after practice, brendon skateboarded into town. he didn't have a car yet, so his only choices for getting to school was for his mom to drive, to walk, or skateboard.
he greeted the current employee working, then put on his apron and clocking in.
the other worker left at 5:30. a couple of customers filtered in and out of the shop. usually friday nights were pretty chaotic, but for the most part it was deserted.
the familiar bell of the shop rang, indicating someone had entered. "welcome to- dallon?"
he smiled, his hands were shoved into his pockets. "hi."
"what are you doing here?" brendon asked.
"well i was going to ask you to hang out tonight, but you had to work. so, i decided to surprise you here. surprise!"
brendon smiled. "i appreciate it, but you can't be here. i have to work, dallon."
dallon pouted for a second. "fine, i'll be your customer then."
"alright, what can i get for you, sir." brendon asked, joking around with the last part.
"i'll get a medium berry and mango smoothie." brendon typed in the order.
"your total is 3.25" dallon pulled out a five and handed it to brendon.
"keep the change." he winked. brendon turned away and began to make the drink.
