Jacob

I hear the doctor say, "Charging, Clear." 4 times. Each time is followed by a, "No pulse." Which makes Loren cry even harder. After the 5th time the doctor says, "Charging. Clear. Pulse! We have a pulse!" Loren stops crying and I do too. The doctors walk out and we walk in. Autumn was still unconscious. Loren walks up to her and hugs her.

*30 minutes later*

Loren just left and I stayed at the hospital because I want to be with her. I sit in the chair next to her. I was holding her hand and playing with her ring. I just stare at her. The girl who was happy and fun to be around is lying in a hospital bed lifelessly with multiple cuts on her arm. I was starring at her when she flinched. I get scared and push the call button for the nurse to come. When the nurse walks in Autumn opens her eyes.

"Autumn?" I ask.

"Jacob?" She says in a raspy voice. I kiss her forehead which causes her to blush.

"You're awake!" I smile. She nods as the nurse checks her heart beat.

"You know you're lucky to have a boyfriend like him. He stayed by your side every minute." The nurse smiles.

"Um he's not my boyfriend." She says awkwardly. She looks at me confused as I shrug. When the nurse leaves Autumn speaks up.

"You stayed with me the whole time?" She asks. I nod nervously as she pulls me into a hug.

"Do you need anything?" I ask when she lets me go.

"Yeah. Can you go to the vending machine and get me a cup of ice please?" she asks. I nod and walk out. I go the short way to the vending machine and then take the long way back. I pass the waiting room to see Loren and Ian making out. I stop for a moment and then run back to Autumn's room with tears in my eyes. When I get to her room I wipe the tears that have fallen and walk in. I hand her the cup as she thanks me. She looks at my tear-stained face.

"What's wrong?" She asks putting the cup of ice down.

"Nothing." I sigh. She sits up and scoots toward the other side of the bed. Then she pats the spot next to her telling me to sit down. I do and she hugs me.

"You can tell me what's wrong Jacob." She smiles.

"When I was getting your ice I walked past the waiting room. And I saw Loren and Ian making out." I sigh as the tears continue to fall. She hugs me.

"That's horrible." She says. I look down at her sparkling eyes. She moves closer to me to the point where our lips are centimeters apart. She kisses me making my stomach explode. I deepen the kiss as someone walks in.

"ROLF JACOB SARTORIUS!" Loren yells. Autumn pulls away.

"You kissed Ian so don't point the finger at me!"

"No I didn't!" She says lying.

"Really? Okay.. Tell this picture that." I sigh showing her the picture I took.

"We're done!" She yells running out of the room.

"I'm so sorry." She sighs pulling me into a hug.

"It's fine." I smile.

"No it's not! You just got dumped." She says. We sit in an awkward silence until the doctor walks in.

"Okay Autumn. You are good to go home." She smiles. Autumn nods and gets up. She looks down at her wrist and stares at it with wide eyes.

"What happened?" She asks.

"You cut yourself because Ian broke up with you." I sigh.

"I did that?" She asks. I nod. She gets out of the bed and almost falls because she was light headed. I pick her up bridal style and carry her home. I lay her on her bad and attempt to walk out when she grabs my arm.

"Stay. Please?" She says. I nod and lay on the bed. She laying her head on my chest. I kiss the top of her forehead as she closes her eyes.

"Good night Autumn." I whisper.

"Good night Jacob." She giggles. Then she drifts off to sleep.
