The difference between me and a lot of admins on this site is that I have experience out of Wattpad. So instead of doing a pure improv Roleplay, they will see me as orderly and flexible.
Okay so I'm going to give anyone who reads this how I admin, what it takes to make a Roleplay, and how to manage them. Now understand this is not the 100% method has other people may have different options they want to use, but I'll give you the list that use.
Rules
Now rules are the secret backbone of an Rp. They set the expectations of the admin to it's viewers right off the bat. It states how things should be done, and how the admin would like it to be.For example I always state that using third person is the way to go. So if people talk in another style you say "yo man. Dats not how things go in dah crib."
Either two things would happen, to hey say "oh sorry" and change their writing style to fit to rules. Or don't. If they don't follow the rules and do it many times then ban hammer them. Cause I'm not wasting my time admining a kid who can't even listen to the simplest of rules.
In addition don't be the hitler of rules, as sometimes as an admin i handle to a lot of people at the same time, and try to understand any little complaints given. So changing the rules always happens at times.
Like incest, cause someone had to make me, make that rule! An admin should never have to hear a message saying "Yo doawg there be sister and brother lusting down in dah hood."
Forms for characters
I'm goi g to be brutally honest with you this is the last thing that I do in making a role play. You make it so people fill it out to explain their character so that they can join the book.People who are doing forms I recommend them to stick with 1-4 characters cause I don't want to hear simply comments like 'they' all the time instead of names
I'm going to give you some pet peeve of mine that I do not batch about when do these things.
1. They say "find out." In one of the bloody form boxes. What! I'm asking you to give me details about your character for admin sakes. You denying me of this 'idea' is annoying to be cause I be like 'no. I'm not accepting you till you finish all your forms. '
As an admin I need to know your characters cause if your godlike I'm going have to do something, or if it's a lore story that doesn't exactly make sense? Also, number one pet peev.
2. I AM A GOD!
If your character can't be beaten then your gonna have a bad time. If your that type of guy who says 'nope' to all attacks but a BS idea of a single weakness is not funny.
Either two ways of handling this, message the Rper and said, "man I saw your character just beat the crap out of everyone! Yo need a nerfing."
Or. make every single character in the rp as 'antagonist' strong as hell because I have to make things Stronger than that character.Stop being a god.
Plot
The people in the rp should drive the plot idea, and or be gently pushed to a main idea. Setting a goal pushes the characters to interact with the world and use their nogens to get things done. Conflict, comedy, anything will work for a plot if the people in it drives it. And if they don't you must add one for yourself, and prepare the world in advance and understand the characters already apart of it and bade their actions for the next segments.Making your own characters
When making a character as an admin you have to know three simply questions above your forms.
1. What will this character offer
2. What will this character do for the plot
3. Why am I adding this characterAdding characters because you like the idea is great, but as an admin I try to limit myself to a total of 4-5 characters at a time. It is way easier to manager 4+the world than 7+the world. Cause 7 characters all being super important, is hard to manage.
Lore
The main difference from me and almost every admin on this site is one thing. I put hours into crafting the world wether that is from a fandom, or one of my own. I write details of possible plot points, locations, enemies, friends, politics, disasters, victories, advancements, and almost anything that makes the world stronger. A lore page should be decently written like a five page essay, each paragraph carefully chosen to represent something of the world.
Remembers, the host/admin builds the world so others can build off of the main idea for their characters.Styles for comment sections
Take into account that some styles my be different then others. Some chose the following list of styles for their comment sectionLocation pages: Each page is a location they can choose from.
Chain rps: everyone just responds on one comment. (No. I do not suggest this as an admin. Finding comments will be your Bain cause the way Wattpad sorts finding response comments)
Chapters; each page is a new segment of the story, as other pages becomes closed (I advise this formate for it is easy for admins to understand, and to keep in balance). You can choose any of these ideas.
Location rp has the upside of offering many different areas to go to, and they can add rules to them as well. However newcomers can feel confused about where to go, and once they enter one they are stuck in understanding if they should stay, or go to another location.
Chains: seems good but there is nothing good about it. It's a cluster a comments all together that you must click refresh every 10 comments. Unlike notifications where it allows you to skip to a comment, chains does not give you that luxury as you start from the bottom of the comment.
Chapters: Imagine locations but carefully selected based on events that characters have done. So each chapter is an advancement in their story. Side effects includes missing key factors of character development. However as an admin this can be fixed, by shoving the newly made character and mix it with another character already apart of it.
All these styles can work (but chain) as long as you can help people out, and that the people in your rp are nice with greeting new people.
So take into account all these ideas and try to see if it works for you. Personally this fits my standards pretty well.
