Monologging is a interesting thing to do as an voice actor and improver vs stage performances.
Stage performances I am more worried about being over expressive. It is hard to explain how I felt when I stood before my professor that I get some stage fright doing this act. How can the guy who has done improv for 8 years and never once complained about being in front of an stage ever be so scared of his listeners when using a script.
For me is because I know what is on the line when I do a script. The person who wrote the play wrote every word ever so carefully, and when I improv anything it is like disrespecting the playwriter. So with every word I speak, and with every emotion is say, this must be as close to the same piece of materiel that the writer had in mind. But I must also keep in mind that I give a spice, a tang, a new look on how the character is portrayed. And I must know the balance between the two.
Improv has no balance, cause you build it on the spot.
Voice acting has a lot of improving in it as well, just with some scripting to keep it alright. Follow the script, and keep to a improv mood if you know your character well enough.
When it comes to the stage performance I can't do most of that. It is a lot if script analysis, studying, and preparing to say just a single thing.
And I love it
