Chapter 14

Omg, finally writing a 14th chapter!

Sophie and Keefe both stepped into the cab. The taxi driver asked where they were headed, but Sophie was too distracted studying the car and the outside view to realize. Keefe nudged her and she jumped at the sudden connection, turning her focus to the driver.

"Uhm... Would you please give me a minute?" She asked racing out of the car.

The driver, frustrated and confused with Sophie's action, slammed his hands down on the wheel after a minute, and turned to look at Keefe with a mean face.

"Where the heck she go!? What's she doing? I have to go!" He shouted at Keefe.

Keefe flinched at the driver's aggression, "Sir, I'm sorry, buy I'm sure she'll be back in just a minute."

The driver still frustrated shook his head and gazed out the car's windshield.

Sure enough, as Keefe had assured the driver, Sophie was back only moments later telling him where they were going.

Keefe leaned in to whisper in Sophie's ear, "What did you go do? He was pisded after you dashed out."

"I'm sorry, that's normal for Taxi driver's, but I had to go tell Fitz where they should get their taxi driver to go. I'm having them take us to an airport, there's no way the Taxi's will drive all the way to Big Bear from here. We'll have to take a plane to get there, the faster the better. We'll get bus fair or an Uber driver once we make it there." She explained to Keefe.

"Hmm... Alright, have you ever been in a plane before?" Keefe asked her, seeming uncertain.

"Yeah, don't worry, it's not as bad as you think. It feels way safer than riding Silveny- that's for sure. But I remember feeling nervous before getting in the plane, and then once I actually got on and it was taking off it was that bad. Still a little nerve racking almost like a rollercoaster, but still, it's not that bad." Sophie assured Keefe.

"What makes you think I'm scared to go on?" Keefe questioned Sophie.

"Hmm, maybe the uncertainy in your eyes, I could see the fear oozing from the core if your soul just by looking into your eyes. Eyes tell a lot." She laughed.

"I'm not scared of anything, I handled Silveny, and those punks in black clokes- who do you think I am? I'm Keefe Sencen!" Keefe pled his best tough guy look.

Sophie cracked up "pfft, sure. I believe you're not scared. The only reason you handled all that was because I was there."

Keefe stared into Sophie's eyes with the most sincerity, "You're right. I did. I couldn't handle the thought of losing you Sophie. The only reason I did what I did was to protect you, you keep my pieces held together whenever you're with me. And that's why I'll go in the plane even though the idea stings my soul, because of you... And as long as you're there I know I'll be strong."

Sophie's eyes started to well, "Keefe, I was- I didn't realize-" Keefe put a finger to her lips, "shh... Its okay. I'm sorry I shouldn't have said that... Can we promise to ignore this?" Sophie's body froze, she couldn't ignore this. She couldn't shake her head. "Please Sophie, for me?" She sighed and finally broke free of her statue state, nodding her head stiffly.

The rest of the car ride was silent, and Sophie was staring out the window the entire rest of the time. She watched the buildings go by, trees, people, clouds, and many more things. She looked back and saw Fitz's taxi still following them, being it with a tang of guilt from her and Keefe's earlier moment.

The taxi finally came to a stop and Sophie turned to find a sleeping Keefe. She giggled and shook him awake. They paid the driver for the ride and got out to greet their friends.

I'm sorry, I know it was short but at least it was an update!! I feel like I'm going to be more into the story now, but it all depends on time. Mainly I feel becaise I found a way to relate it to a recent event of mine--- riding in an airplane!! I had a flight when I was much younger but I don't remember it must h, recently I took another flight and it was fun, soon I'll be going into another flight, and so I'll have fun writing that part. I'll try to write soon, but right now its currently 1:24 am, WHY AM I UPDATJBG AT THIS HOUR!!?
