Chapter 24~The Confrontation

I looked at Roxy,she stood up we looked at each other dead in the eyes. "Is it really true"I said,I felt my eyes fill with tears once again.

"James "she said,her eyes also started to fill with tears "I.. it was the right thing to do,I couldn't care for you like your dad and Linda could"she said sadly.

I took a deep breath in to try and stop myself from bursting out in tears."So you,you just gave me up did you"."It wasn't like that,I wanted to keep you but I just couldn't it would have been selfish"she said as tears began to fall from her eyes.

"What and this isn't,deciding to ruin my life when it was just about to be perfect"I replied furiously.

"No,no I didn't want it to be like this"she said. "What is it not good enough for you eh just like I wasn't good enough for you when you left me with dad and Linda".

"Don't say that"she came towards me.I stepped back,she froze."James,your my son,I love you"she said with desperation in her voice.

"Yeah well you should have thought about that before you gave me up".I brushed off Jack,walked out of the house and didn't look back.

I kept going until I got back to the Vic. Whitney and Johnny were behind the bar while Lee was on the other side leaning into them forming a huddle. Whitney saw me and they all turned to look at me.

I could tell Lee and Johnny didn't know  but Whitney must have known since she was talking about it earlier.

"Am where's dad"I asked in a hurried tone."Upstairs"he replied suspiciously.I rushed towards the stairs .

"James"Lee called after me,I turned to face him "You alright?"he asked.

"Yeah,I'm fine I just need to talk to dad about something".He stared at me with confusion.

I quickly went upstairs.I got to the kitchen door and saw my dad and Linda sitting around the table.

Mick's POV
I couldn't stop thinking about how angry James was when I told him but then I remembered how I reacted when Shirley told me she was my real mum.

Linda was sat across from me,I knew how upset she was as in her eyes he is just another one of her children.

Suddenly I heard the floor creak behind me.I turned around in my chair and saw James.

Linda and I went to stand up but he said "Sit down I want to talk to you both".Linda moved around the table to sit beside me and James sat opposite us.

"I went to see Roxy"he stated.I opened my mouth."Don't" James stopped me before I could say anything.

"She said that she couldn't take care of me when I was born so she let you two raise me without her being involved at all and I have thought it over and I understand that it must have taken a lot of courage and love to take on another baby on top of the three you already had,so for that I have decided I'm not going to blame ye or hold a grudge because I know you didn't want to hurt me but you felt it was the best thing to do for me".

Linda burst into to tears.James put his hand on top of hers "Hey"he said "I know you have to live with me until I'm at least 18 but I'm not that bad am I".

Linda giggled and tapped his hands "No,no of course not it's just I'm so glad you don't hate me" she said "Hate you,of course I don't hate you,your my mum"he replied sincerely.

We both looked up when he said that she was his mum."What,you're the one who taught me how to use the right knife and fork,your the one who kissed my cuts better when I was younger,your the one who washes and irons my clothes and most of all you are the one who loved me through thick and thin all these years so you are my real mum".

"What about Roxy" Linda asked.James looked down and thought about it for a few seconds."I don't want anything to do with her".

"James"I said."What"He replied "She loves you and wants to make a serious go of it"I told him"Well it's too little too late"he replied.

"Anyway I'm going to go and help them out downstairs"he added.He got up and left the room. Linda wiped her eyes"Come here"I said.I pulled her into a hug.Everything seemed ok for now.
