As we walked up a flight up stairs and down the hallway to my room, Aria asked me tons of questions about how I lived in the mortal world. She asked about my parents, friends and a ton of other things like food and movies. In return, she explained that there were a lot of similarities and the more she told me, the more at ease I started to feel. However, when she asked if I had left a certain person back home, I explained what had happened.

“I’m so sorry,” she said sympathetically. “I know this might not sound like it should make you feel better, but when an immortal comes home, they aren’t allowed to bring back any mortals with them. So eventually it would’ve had to end,” she explained. I sighed, figuring she was right. I would’ve felt the heartache eventually.

When we arrived at my door, Aria bid me goodbye and explained to me that someone would be up be up to fetch me when dinner was ready. Once inside I couldn’t believe my eyes. Everything down to the rug was made of the finest materials. I should’ve expected it, but I was still awed by the beauty of the room.

I looked around, taking in the writing desk covered in the latest technologies, the canopy bed covered in lavender silk bread sheets, the large French doors, the bathroom, and the closets doors. I sat down on the purple bench at the foot of the bed and began letting the information sink in.

Did I really believe that I was a princess? Hell no. Was I still hurt and confused about Dilan? Hell yes. I was here though and whether or not I believed I was a princess, it didn’t matter. I was here and until I woke up from this crazy dream, I would go along with it.

Another sigh came from me. “Maybe it won’t be so bad after all,” I thought. “No druggy for a mom. No workaholic for a father. I won’t have to deal with Hunter’s stupidity and Trixie’s blindness.” My positive thoughts stopped there for only a moment. “And maybe it’ll be easier to get over Dilan.” Another sigh. “I’m sure it will. I am a princess and that means I’ll have to act like a princess. Besides there’s so much more I need to learn about this world.” My mood slightly increased, thinking about the possibilities of being able to explore something new and foreign.  I was evening beginning that this crazy place was real.“ I can so do this.”

A knock came to the door and when I answered it, it was a young woman about my age dressed in a servant’s uniform.

“I was sent to tell you that dinner is being served, your highness,” she said with a small curtsy. I smiled and quietly thanked her before following her to a small dining room. It wasn’t what I had expected when living in a palace, but I assumed this room was used for the family while the other one was used when guests were around.

The gray haired man, or my father, was sitting at the head of the rectangular mahogany table while Kimbra and Aria sat on his left side. I walked over and sat in the first empty chair on his right, hoping I wasn’t taking anyone’s place at the table.

Kimbra smiled at me. “Did you like your room?”

I nodded. “It’s very nice. Thank you.”

The King smiled and nodded his head. “Very good.” Just then a tall middle-aged man strode into the room. The king smiled brightly at him and stood to shake his hand. “I must apologize for cutting your visit with your mother short. I hope she is well,” he said as they finished shaking hands.

“No need to apologize,” Blithe replied. He looked down at me and smiled. “This must be our lost princess.”

“May I formally introduce to you, my daughter, Ellia.” Once the King introduced me, Blithe bowed low.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you. I will be your trainer for the next few months.”

“It’s nice to meet you as well, but why will I need a trainer?” I asked confused.

Blithe sat down next to me and took his napkin from his plate and placed it on his lap before answering. “You need to learn how to control your abilities. If we do not, they may over power your body and destroy you.” His actions seemed calm and casual, but the serious tone in his voice matched the look in his eyes and I knew that all of them were concerned about me. I remembered what Kimbra had said earlier about being destroyed and the very thought shook me to the bone.

I nodded my head in understanding and asked, “When will I begin?” A couple of servants came into the room, holding trays which held plates. A servant placed a plate with a piece of chicken breast covered with some sort of cranberry mixture with brussel sprouts. The display of food looked heavenly and my mouth nearly watered. It wasn't until I heard my stomach gave a small ache, that I remembered that I hadn't eaten since lunch at school.

“We will start the day after tomorrow. You will need to have suitable clothing for that and Kimbra will be taking you girls on a shopping trip,” he replied as I went to grab my fork, but stopped when I found two forks. Blithe noticed my pause and when he knew I was looking, he motioned to the napkin, which I picked up and placed on my lap, then watched him grab the fork the furthest away from his plate with his left and the knife with his right. He began cutting a small piece of chicken and brought it to his mouth, the fork and knife still in the hands he picked them up with.

After looking around to see everyone else doing the same, I followed suit, not wanting to look like a fool.

“After your shopping trip with Kimbra and Aria, your daily schedule will be as follows,” the king began in between bites. “After breakfast, you will arrive to train with Blithe at nine AM; your history instructor will meet you there and teach you all about the immortal world while you train. After lunch, you will meet with your etiquette instructor. Madam Pavoni will teach you everything you need to know about acting like a proper princess. You will then end your day with dance lessons and meet here for dinner at six O’clock.”

“Don’t worry,” Aria comforted from across the table with a smile “I had to do it to, but I had more tutors and once your abilities come to you, you will be able to control them fairly well.”

On the outside, I nodded my head and quietly continued to eat my food. No one seemed to mind as they talked amongst themselves. I listened to Kimbra and Aria gossip about some duke and how obvious it was he had a mistress. Blithe and the King chatted about the solders and other business concerning the kingdom.

On the inside, I was freaking out.
