When I was satisfied, I teleported to a porch in one of the courtyards where Kimbra had suggested we eat on the warm and sunny days. It was a cute little porch that was big enough for a small intimate table and room to spare for a clear walkway to the stairs.
“Good afternoon,” Kimbra greeted with a friendly smile as I came outside. “Did you have a nice nap?”
I nodded and yawned. I really hadn’t expected to, but I yawned anyway and I made sure to cover my mouth. When it was over, I sat down and apologized, “Excuse me, I must still be a little tired.”
“It is quite alright. We all know how hard you have been working with Blithe. I actually believe that you deserve a day off.” She turned to her husband and asked, “What do you think, Nick?”
My father looked pleased with the praises and nodded. He turned to me and said, “You do deserve a day off every once in a while, especially with the amount of training Blithe is planning for you. I will inform your instructor’s that you are not allowed to have lessons Saturday so you may relax and enjoy yourself.”
I smiled and I let out a long quiet breath, relieved that I was able to have a day off. “Thank you, father,” I said as Blithe and Madam Pavoni stepped through the doors. They were soon informed of the recent conversation and soon after, Aria began chatting away about how she could finally show me all the fun things to do in town. She was even going to gather a large group of her friends together so they could meet me.
When Aria and I had agreed, my father made sure to but in, “I want Xavior to escort you as a bodyguard. After what happened the other day, I am not willing to take any chances.”
I almost sighed at that. After seeing Damien again, I didn’t want anything to do with the King’s matchmaking schemes. I knew that I had to let Xavior and my father know that I wasn’t interested, but I wasn’t sure how.
I looked across the table where Aria sat. “But she might,” I thought as we shared a smile.
After my lessons with Blithe that night, I went to Aria’s room. She answered her door with a confused look when she saw me.
“Is this about the island?” she asked with a little attitude. “Because I’ve been waiting for you to tell me all about it.”
I nodded and she stepped aside. The layout of her room was almost like mine, but the style was completely different. While mine was simple and elegantly chic, hers was sassy and filled with lots of bright colors.
I sat on the chaise lounge in the corner of her room, where a small book shelf and entertainment center was placed. She sat across from me, in a blue comfy looking chair. “Okay, so it’s him,” I blurted. Her jaw slacked, but then a grin appeared.
“Oh my goddesses!” she exclaimed in excitement. “That’s so exciting! What happened?”
“Well at first, I hid from him and had him answer questions about the attack and what not,” I replied with a shrug. She on the other hand, was sitting on the edge of her seat waiting for more. “He didn’t send those soldiers, just like the captive said,” I added as a side note before going wrapping up the rest. “After he found out that it was me, we kissed and then Xavior came looking for me.”
As soon as my last statement was out, she groaned and slumped in her chair. “Ugh, I’m beginning to not like that guy. We’re gonna have to find a way for you to see King Damien again.”
“I already did,” I said, making her mouth go wide with shock.
“And you didn’t tell me?” she yelled.
I narrowed my eyes at her in a playful manner and replied, “That’s why I’m here now.”
“Oh. Well in that case. Do tell.”
