just how fast the night changes?❞

"You have to tell him, sweetheart."

She looked to her mother from the mirror she was staring at her reflection in. The red dress she wore around her body was tight, but not too tight to reveal how there was a difference with her stomach. Her mother held a glass of water and a plate in her hand, the small orange container rolling around on it. There was half a bagle on the plate, all she needed to eat the medicine and still be hungry for dinner.

"I'm not going to tonight, mom," she said, blowing a breath as she walked to her mother. "It would ruin everything and it is our one year anniversary." She picked up the bagle from the plate, taking a small bite into it. "He's going to be so mad when he finds out I'm . . ."

Tris couldn't finish the sentence and she waited to finish the bagle before picking up the container of medicine. Her mother looked at her with a sad expression on her face, handing Tris the glass of water. "And if he finds out another way?"

"I'll tell him," Tris straightened her dress and set the water glass on the table next to her. "I will, just not tonight."

The car door opened and Tobias stuck his hand out. As Tris grabbed it, the moonlight illuminated the blush on her cheeks, the lights from the restaurant letting Tobias see her grin. He moved a hand around her back, shutting the car door when Tris moved back and then locking the car.

"Have I mentioned how stunning you look?" He asked, his eyebrows furrowing only some as he moved his face closer to hers.

Tris only rolled her eyes, pulling away after pressing a kiss to Tobias's lips. They both walked closer to the door of the restaurant and Tris finally replied. "Twice in the car and once at my house," she addressed with amusement. "Thank you, Tobias."

Tobias was also dressed in something nice, a black tux with a white undershirt and a black tie; the usual style. He explained in the car that, like the prom, his mother had to help him tie it. He still hasn't learned to do it himself.

"Reservations for Eaton," Tobias said as they stopped at the front desk.

They were led to a table in the back, where there was a clear view of the sky and the moon that hung in the middle of it. The stars sparkled brightly around the moon, scattered throughout the sky. After they had asked for the check, Tris found herself looking to it. When she looked away, Tobias was already staring at her.

He wiggled his eyebrows and leaned closer. "First anniversary," he said. "The first to many others, because I'm not leaving you anytime soon."

The smile on Tris's face dimmed for a moment before she reached her hand across to hold Tobias's. Though, she didn't promise the same thing.

Tobias reached with his other hand to get something out of his pocket and he laid it down on the table. He disconnected their hands for just a few seconds, reaching to open up the violet colored squared ring box. Tris stopped, and her face must have gotten pale because Tobias's eyes widened.

"No, love, this isn't a proposal," Tobias reassured. He held the box up with one hand, reaching to hold Tris's hand again with the other. The ring inside the box was small, with one little diamond sitting on the top.
