Rain poured fast on the windshield of Tobias's car. The lightning that flickered across the sky every few minutes startled him, and the coffee he had been drowning his system in didn't help. Ever since he was a kid, he had been afraid of storms. Being with his girlfriend helped when he was a teen, because her parents always allowed him over when they did happen, even though they didn't know the reason. His girlfriend would hold him in her arms when he did manage to get away from his drunken father, brushing a hand through his hair as music that played drowned out the storm. Even now, as a married couple of four years (and counting), the love of his life still laid with him on their bed, fingers through his hair and soft kisses on his forehead.

Tobias yawned again, picking up the coffee from the cup holder and taking a big gulp. It was the only thing that would keep him awake at that time of night. His eyes went to his phone again, reaching to turn it on so he could see the time.

12:36

A sigh slipped past his lips and he swirled the coffee in the cup, placing it back as he focused back on the road. There were still cars on the road, heading home from the hours and hours of slow traffic. Tobias turned the radio up, rubbing at his eyes. He was on the phone with his wife two hours earlier, an hour after she had put their restless four year old to bed, and his wife sounded exhausted. He hoped she had gone to bed, and wasn't waiting up for him.

Which was the opposite of what she would be doing, knowing his wife.

Finally, only ten minutes later the exit to his home came up. He signaled, moving to that side of the highway, and taking the exit ramp. He debated getting another cup of coffee, but decided against it. The ride home would be faster if he didn't stop.

It was around one fifteen when Tobias pulled into the garage. He shut off his car, grabbing the trash from both his dinner and coffee, shutting the garage door as he headed inside.

The radio played quietly through the kitchen and Tobias let a smile touch his lips as he saw his wife sitting at the kitchen table, a mug full with tea nestled between your hands. She was looking to where Tobias would come from the garage and when she saw him, she breathed a breath of relief.

"I was so scared," Tris said, standing from the table and rushing into his arms. Tobias was still shaking from the storm going on outside and she pushed her fingers into his hair, hugging him tight. "Are you okay?"

"Why are you still awake? Do you know what time it is?"

Tris pulled away, beautiful grey eyes meeting his before she rolled them. "I was worried. You could've had a mental breakdown, and crashed--"

"You worry too much."

"How am I not supposed to worry? I'm glad you are okay."

Tobias connected his hands with hers, leading her into the kitchen when he realized the song that began to play. As Tris recognized it also, she smiled slowly and moved her arms up to undo Tobias's tie, shrugging off his jacket and placing it on the back of a chair. She was back into Tobias's arms as the lyrics started, and Tobias slowly swayed them back and forth.

Lonely, yeah that's the word; I leave my heart when I leave her; The days go on forever and the nights do too.

Tris pressed her head into Tobias's shoulder, and he pulled her closer, pressing a kiss to the side of her head. Lifting her head, Tris's mouth hung ear when the words came, and she sang them quietly into his ear. "I just love you," she said, "I don't know why but I just do."

Tobias waited until the part when he could sing the words back. He never had much practice in the hobby, only singing every once in a while, like in the car or when he tried to get his little girl down to sleep. But, Tris still claimed that his voice was like an angel's.

"And I just love you too."

Whenever Tobias had long trips for work, this was their song. Sometimes even, Tris would call him as they both were on different sides of the States, just to tell him she loved him. Most of the other times, it was their little daughter whose sweet and tired voice rang through the speaker.

Tobias didn't know what he would do without both of them in his life.

"Papa?"

The four year old held a blanket in the same hand she used to rub at her face. She stood at the opening of the kitchen that had the stairs to the second level of their house, and when she saw Tobias, she instantly had a soft grin on her face. "Papa," she said, sighing in content.

Ending their small dance, Tobias pulled away, walking to the girl and bending to pick her up in his arms. She put her head on his shoulder, eyes gazing up to him. Tobias raised an eyebrow down to her, "And why are you awake now?" He asked, a joking manner to his tone.

"I just love you, papa." The little girl said, picking up her hand to lay on Tobias's cheek. "I can't ever miss a day without making sure you know."

Tris drank the remainder of her tea, putting the mug in the sink shortly afterwards. She grabbed Tobias's tuxedo jacket from the chair, turning off the lights and radio. As she followed them out of the kitchen and upstairs, Tobias kissed their little girl's head and said, "I know, and I just love you too."
