Your best friend Calum was always there for you, no matter what. He had dried your tears through countless heartbreaks and was no more than a phone call away.
Calum rushed over to your house when he heard you had been dumped, your dog died, your grandparent had had a stroke, and when your heart was torn apart by your crush.
Now, however, Calum's band was gaining popularity and he was always traveling. You could still call him on the phone or facetime, but it wasn't the same as being able to cuddle into his side.
You two were celebrating though because he was coming home in a few days. He was really cute because he was super excited to surprise you with something.
He had bought you a necklace from Cartier with interlocking circles on it, representing your eternal bond. It was the first really expensive thing he had bought with his money and couldn't wait to give it to you.
You gave him a couple of days to spend at home with his family resting and enjoying their company before you hung out with him. When you met up with him at the beach, however, you were saying bye to your boyfriend as he left to go hangout with some of his friends.
When Calum approached you, you squealed and jumped into his arms. Calum laughed as he hugged you back and said hello.
"So who was that guy you were just talking to?" Calum asked you.
"That was my boyfriend, Jake! Why?"
Calum shrugged and told a little white lie as he said,
"I was just wondering if he was someone I would remember."
"Nah, he's new at my school so I don't think you would.. So what's my big surprise you've been telling me about??" You asked, full of excitement and curiosity.
Calum was hurt and disappointed. He didn't expect you to have a boyfriend when he got back so as long as you and Jake were together, his gift was ruined. He decided to smile though and said,
"You'll have to wait. I didn't bring it out here with me."
That night, Jake called you and wanted to meet somewhere and talk. You could tell by the tone of his voice it wasn't good.
When you met up with him in a vacant parking lot, he was already parked and leaned up against his car. He looked upset and like he was in deep thought. When you got out of your car you walked up to him and asked,
"Is everything okay?"
He just shook his head and said,
"No, (Y/N), I really like you, but lately you've seemed really flaky. You and I make plans but then you cancel or reschedule them so you can hangout with one of your friends. Even when we do actually hang out, all you do is talk about your friend Calum."
"Jake, I barely get to see him anymore. I'm really sorry that I've been ditching you and I never intended to do that. I just like to talk about him because I'm just really proud of him. I honestly never thought he'd actually get the attention he's getting now."
You and Jake ended up fighting and breaking up. You were really upset so you turned to the only person you knew could help.
Calum sat up with you all night as he tried to make you feel better and craddled you in his arms. When the sun started to rise you were feeling a little better and gave Calum a kiss on the cheek and a hug as you thanked him for being such a good friend.
Calum had gone home a few hours later to get a little sleep. While he was gone, one of your girlfriends came over and you explained everything that happened with Jake to her.
