Chapter IV:
It has been a week now and I am still stuck in confinement. Micah and Mae volunteered to look after me after school hours; in that way Mr. Jin could rest during those times. He will eventually come back for his hospital-shift early the next morning and of course with him are always hefty hot meals for the three of us. Micah and Mae would always have breakfast here with me before they return home, fix themselves and go to school.
As for my suspicious teacher, he never showed up after I left the emergency room a couple of days ago.
"Hey Katie!" Mae entered the room raising a bag of groceries.
I smiled at her. "Where's Micah?" I asked while she was unloading the bag.
I saw a grin painted on her lips. "She's coming." She replied in a sing-song manner.
It is as if they've rehearsed it; Micah entered the hospital room as soon as Mae finished answering. She was cradling a bundle of paper in her right arm.
"I got the script!" she shouted excitedly while waving some of the papers in the air with her free hand.
I returned her gesture with just a smile. I'm happy that they were always there for me but it seems like my energy is slowly being drained the longer I stay here in the hospital. A few days more and I'll be dead before anybody could even notice.
"Here." Micah handed me the papers she was holding and dropped the rest of it beside my blanket-covered feet.
"And these are?" I asked curiously. I honestly do not have any clue with regards to these papers and have the least understanding of why she was giving them to me.
"It's the script for the play!" she said excitedly while I returned her excitement with an awkward smile.
She and Mae looked at each other, clasped hands and with a wide grin on their faces announced the news I most feared, "you're playing Juliet!"
An awkward aura engulfed me and the smile dropped from my lips. I started to protest.
"Sorry to disappoint you girls but, I will be turning that offer down."
"I don't think that is possible, Katie. It was the majority of the seniors who voted for you." Mae shrugged.
"Honestly we were surprised to know that you were so popular! Come to think of it you seldom join in group or school activities... well except for your sports." Micah added.
"Yeah but that is not all! The best part of this news is..." Mae continued.
"You will have Drake Wok for your Romeo!" they both clasped their hands once more and with loud shrieks jumped around in circles. "We are so proud of you!" another unison; this time with matching raised clasped hand gesture from the both of them. These two could be a part of the Sailor Moon gang. (-_______-)
"I can't! I don't want to!" I threw the loose papers at the edge of my feet to where the rest of its pile sat silently. I pulled the covers over my head and in a sickly voice said, "I'm sick, remember?"
"Your release papers are already prepared and the bills have been paid. You are free to go."
(O_O) I was taken aback with the sudden intrusion of whoever that was. Quickly, I took off the blanket and as if automatically; I started to shoot dagger stares towards the unwanted visitor who was walking towards my bed.
"What are you doing here?" I demanded in almost a growl while I sat up.
"How rude." he turned to Micah and Mae. "How are you girls?" he smiled slyly making the both of them blush.
