Chapter VI:

"Finally! You're here." It was Mr. Raye.

All of the performers were on top of the stage and were rehearsing their lines. We placed our bags on the vacant seats of the theatre, went up the stage to get the show rolling.

"We should change her," I could hear Clarisse say from behind me. "She's been absent for way too long and now she's late for rehearsals. Not to mention that we already did a couple of practices and this is her first."

Her minions echoed in agreement.

(-_____-) ~ this is me with my patience growing thin.

I faced her forgetting that I need to uphold my goody-two-shoes reputation. Whatever! I really do not care. I think it is high time for everybody to see the real me. For my justification: the weather is hotter than usual and my melted self-control is a bit impossible to freeze back to solid state.

"I may have been away from school for quite some time but unlike you, I've memorized the whole script already. So why don't you be a good bystander and practice your role? You could also include a little prayer that I may slip into something and injure myself or what-so-ever; so that you could make your title as a substitute a reality." I finished my little street speech with a wicked smile on my lips and the clamors, whispers and awe for what I just said started to build up. There goes my perfect reputation. I shrugged. Don't really care though; I know is that Mae and Micah will still stay by my side, I can always keep my academic standing, and since I've been set for this role I won't easily lose it... not even if the whole campus despises me for showing true colors. After all I never aimed for popularity: not in the past, not now... basically never in my whole life.

I could feel Clarisse's anger looming over me while I turned my back on her. Being a street rat during most of my childhood, I really got some bad attitude. Believe me I couldn't care less for what the others will think. I just want the information that Sebastian is supposed to give me in exchange for this role.

"Okay! Enough drama, let's start rehearsing the program." Sebastian called from the foot of the stage.

Instinctively I came down the stage to get the copy of my script that I left earlier due to inattention.

"I thought you've memorized the whole script already?"

(-____-) that's Clarisse with her you-lied sing-song tone. I gave off a sigh before turning to face her. This girl doesn't know when to give up! She was impatiently waiting for my reply while shooting daggered stared at me; arms crossed in front of her chest.

I parted my lips to put an end to all of this (including her... hehehe (^U^')7 ) when my supposed Romeo, Drake, suddenly pulled her aside.

"That is enough." He scolded.

I'm not sure but his gestured seemed to have triggered an outrage among the other participants. One after another they started to air out their feelings of hatred and disgust towards Clarisse and her loyal minions.

"Well, what'd you know? It seems like I suddenly became a hero for standing up against her." I thought and shrugged.

I threw the script back to where I took it, my bag. True enough, I was bluffing when I said I memorized the whole script but, I did manage to get until the half of it. I was so bothered about the thought of what Sebastian was looking at the day before plus my excitement for the hanging information about my owner that I started memorizing the script until four in the morning. Though I don't have a photographic memory I do retain things faster and longer than I give myself credit for.
