Chapter XIII:
I did a final rehearsal in front of the mirror that night. My heart was pounding rapidly beneath my chest. I felt that anytime soon it will thoroughly jump out of my body.
"He's coming." I whispered while I looked at the reflection of the dress that was hanging on my closet's door. I ruffled my hair. "Damn! The more I think about it the more nervous I become!" Honestly, the large crowd and everything else that will be present tomorrow seemed to have vanished in thin air when it comes to the single thought of him being there. I slapped both of my cheeks to get the thought out of my mind.
"Great! Now I'm having butterflies in my stomach!" I whined and lied down, belly-flat on my bed. I looked at the beautiful rose while its petals started to have brown spots. I've placed it inside the vase that was sitting on the side table beside the couch. Though I changed its water everyday and gave it a little sunlight every dawn, still it seemed like it won't stay longer than a week before it totally withers.
I sighed.
"I'll come." Those words were stuck inside my mind and heart. It kept on repeating like a booming thunder shaking my very being. I raised my arm at eye-level and stared at the chicken skin bumps that were clearly depicted on it. I am having goose bumps! I blushed as I remembered his handwriting once more.
"It was so mature and neat. Like those old ink-based writing on parchment." I thought when a sudden memory of Sebastian's words struck my mind. "This is Kate's last performance before leaving high school; he wished to be taking part in it."
I looked at the dress that I was to wear tomorrow and a smile painted my lips.
"He made this design just for me. I must do my best in my role to give honor to his hard work." I closed my eyes and went to sleep. Though the week was dedicated solely for the school's festival and all classes have been cancelled, I was still so beat up and stressed that I needed to go to sleep early. Not to mention my pounding heart that I need to calm down every now and then.
The early sunlight beamed upon me the next day. Honestly, even though I never left my bed the whole night I still did not have a good rest. It's as if my mind keeps on wandering and my nerves won't stop shaking from the nervousness and all. I stretched my arms and looked at the time on my phone that was sitting patiently on my vanity table.
"Six-thirty." I read aloud. "I'd better get ready."
I said a silent prayer, turned the alarm off that was set at seven, got up, and got ready. I was combing my hair when I rechecked the time.
"7:45."
I finished tidying up my things and took one last glance at my reflection before heading down the stairs. After all, we are required to report at 8:30 for the final instructions and preparations before the play starts at 2 in the afternoon.
I greeted Mr. Jin a good morning once I saw him. I told him that I am ready to go and that I will be skipping breakfast.
"Who would like to eat in this situation?" I asked myself feeling my heart pounding rapidly on my chest as if the rats inside were already going berserk.
It was good fifteen minutes after eight when I arrived at school. I directly went to the dressing room where all has gathered. Mae was not there though Micah was. I approached the excited girl and inquired for our friend's whereabouts.
"She's finishing her work so she could help us prepare later."
I smiled at her statement. Her excitement added to my nervousness but I'm too happy to intervene. Five minutes before the allotted time; everybody was there waiting for Sebastian. Mae was also there supporting me and Micah.
