Chapter XI:

Sebastian and I bought some take-outs from a nearby fast food chain after we have dropped Micah and Mae off their houses. At present, we are currently seated at the hood of his car facing the vast ocean of lights below the cliff where he once brought me. I smiled as a cool breeze swept through my hair. It was so soothing. We silently ate our take-outs while enjoying the calm and peaceful surroundings.

"Oh. Before I forget," I dug into my pocket and handed him the golden card. "Here." I smiled but he did not return the gesture nor took the card off my hand.

"What were you doing earlier?" he asked instead with a serious voice.

I looked at him not really knowing what he meant. Shrugging it off, I placed the card on the hood and got a hold of my chicken leg. I am hungry and I do not want to have long pauses while I am eating or I'll eventually lose my appetite.

"I am asking you a question." His voice this time was a bit out of tone and harsh.

I turned to him while nibbling on the chicken leg that I was holding with my right hand. "Vat vo you mean? (what do you mean?)" I asked with a mouthful. I know it is not so lady-like but this is the real me. One could say that my street habits have not subsided over the years and since I do not need to wear my "good-student attitude" outside of the campus, I do such things comfortably.

I looked at Sebastian who was currently wearing a serious expression. It's just a bit weird, he is not even touching his food but then again that is his ordeal, and not mine so better yet to just leave him be. I took another bite from my chicken leg and had my gaze on the vast sea of lights set before me.

The air was calm and the song of the crickets were very relaxing that I never thought something could go wrong until he suddenly grabbed both of my arms and made me face him forcefully.

"Let me go! That hurts!" I screamed and tried to get rid of his stinging grip. I cannot quite understand him and now my food was scattered all over the place.

"Look at what've done!" I shouted angrily. Knowing how important food is, I just cannot allow this nonsensical action to be left unreprimanded but then I stopped when I saw his serious expression. Something was not right here. I've never seen him is such state before. He looks angrier than the time that Drake was hitting on me. My eyes were glued to his and even if I wanted to avert my gaze, I can't. I am too scared to move a muscle, and his intense glares were sending shivers down my spine making me number.

I can't believe that his once gently grey eyes were now like sharp glasses that pierced through my very being.

"If you want to play around with other guys, you'd better stop leeching on my nephew!" his words were colder than ice. "Though he never asked you to live a chaste life, it is your duty and responsibility to keep yourself pure until the time you leave his custody! Remember this Ms. Rio, I am not a good person but I do respect the man who took you in. But, if you are not willing to equally give back that respect then I won't mind breaking you." His words ended like shards of glass being rubbed on my heart.

He released me from his grip with a slight push from his end. I honestly do not understand any of this but still it is as if my heart was torn into pieces. Tears started to form in my eyes while I tried to distract myself from his hurtful words; I started to pick up the scattered food and returned them into my take out box.

"My share is untouched. Feel free to take it,"

He got off the hood of the car and returned inside the car.

I bit my lips to prevent my tears from falling. I do not want to show undeserving people my tears. I got off the hood, took a deep breath, faced the sea of light, wiped off the trailing tears in my eyes, and grabbed his food container. Whatever happens, food shouldn't be in anyway wasted.
