I woke up to the faint sound of knocking. Usually I wouldn't have heard it but from sleeping in this schizophrenic hospital I gained a very powerful sense of hearing like awareness. I got up and walked to my window I looked out of it and saw non other than Mia. She was standing there just looking at me with teary eyes. She finally looked down at the ground "I'm sorry." She said. "Your sorry? Why? For what?" I asked in almost a yelling tone. "For letting you escape. If I didn't let you then u wouldn't be in here. You would've never got those scars. They look so bad by the way do they hurt?"
"Not really." I reached up my hand to trace the scars. There was still dried blood in them and it made them look fresh. "That's good but how does that not hurt?!" She asked very confused. I laughed and shrugged my shoulders "I seriously don't know Mia. Just all my feeling of pain went away during that fight and-"
"What was the fight like? Did u beat him up? I wanna clear the roamers around here." Mia interrupted.
"What roamers? What are they saying?"
"Their saying..... you are weak and u arnt as insane as these people think you are." She said this in a way that made me think being insane is a competition here.
"Well..." I told her the whole story and didn't leave anything out. If there are roamers around here then I mine as well own up to the truth.
"Woah! Your so cool!!" She said jumping up and down.
"Ya." I said looking down sadly.
"What's wrong?" She asked.
"I wish I could go play with you but there's no way i will be able to get out of this cell now. They don't even let me go get lunch."
Mia looked at me with this really evil smile and biting her lip as if she was so excited to tell me something.
"What? Why are you smiling like that?" I asked.
She leaned in and whispered cupping one hand on one side of her mouth while putting the other hand formally behind her back. "I know how to get you out. I'm not getting you out of the hospital but I know how to get you out of the cell." She leaned away and put both arms behind her back still smiling.
"Really!!?" I got so excited and started jumping up and down.
"Ya! Ok so, you see this door has a code to open so I just need to get the code for your cell. Easy."
"How are you gonna get it?" I asked.
"I see the codes for all the cells in this hall when I go to get questioned every Wednesday. They are always spread out across his desk."
"So, since today is Monday I have to wait 2 days?"
"Ya I'm sorry I can't get it sooner but you'll be fine." She said gesturing her hand as it was no big deal. "I'll come talk to you everyday." She said with a huge smile.
"Ok. That sounds fun." I smiled back. This would be my chance to have a friend. Even though Mia wasn't perfect she was all I had. I'm not trying to escape again they might send me somewhere worse. I watched Mia skip off and I turned to head back to my bed. Then I heard a sudden squeak down the hall and I heard Mia skipping back. I went up to my door again and she met me there. "Oops I forgot." She said. "Your cell number is...." she looked up above the door. "10! Got it!" She skipped away again and I took a deep breath in and out.I slowly walked back to my bed eager to get some rest. I couldn't sleep that night. All these things were flooding my mind. The thought of when I can see my parents again, how disgusted they would be with me, my chances of being normal and falling in love, if Mia will actually help me out of this cell, my dirty throw up shirt. I got tired of my dirty shirt and just took it off. I had on my blue training bra anyways but even if I didn't it wouldn't matter. I'm only 10. All these thoughts later helped me drift to sleep.
