9. Shut Your Mouth.

Kareena's POV:

"So...." I said as I sat on Max's couch. The very same couch we had our first conversation on. In his house. The house he shares with his girlfriend.

Ugh.

"Yeah?" he asked turning to look at me. He had his arm slung around me, and my head was resting on his shoulder. We were sitting like a couple.

It feels so wrong.

But wrong is right.

Especially when it comes to Max.

"Doesn't this feel... Wrong?" I asked him.

"Honestly, no. It feels wrong when I'm with Sam." he said

"Then why are you still with her?" I asked

"It's a long and complicated story." he answered with a sigh

"Yeah. I know a lot about those." I laughed

"Don't we all?" he laughed too. The conversation ended there. He scooted closer and tightened his grip on me. If I was a pinch more naive, I would have thought he didn't want to let me go.

Too bad I'm smart enough to know the truth.

"Max?" a female voice called. That wasn't my voice. I quickly scooted to the other side of the couch as Max flew up and greeted his girlfriend.

"Hey Sam." he greeted her before pecking her on the lips.

What happened to my heart, sanity, and confidence at that exact moment you ask? This equation should explain: Max + Samie x 1 Kiss = 1 very shattered Kareena. That good enough for you?

"Hi Max. Hey Kareena! I didn't know you were coming by." she smiled her gorgeous Samie smile.

"Neither did I. But Legend ditched me all day." I laughed, even though I sensed Samie's intense gaze. She was still smiling, but her eyes sent posionous arrows into my soul. Damn, she's good.

"Ah, that's cool. Well I'm gonna run to my room real fast. I'll be right back." she said before dashing up the stairs.

"Keep your fucking mouth shut." Max warned as soon as Samie disappeared.

"Woah, calm your tits." I laughed, he just glared.

"I'm serious Kareena. Not one word." he gave the same look Samie had a few moments earlier. I just went wide eyed before grabbing my purse and dashing out the front door.

"Kareena, wait a second!" I heard someone call out the door after me. I turned around when Samie's perfectly manicured hand landed on my arm.

"Hey." I smiled

"Look, I don't want you at my house when I'm not here." she said

"What, why?" I asked playing dumb.

"I'm not stupid. Max likes you. And I know you like him. But if anything happens, we will have a problem." she said

"He doesn't like me, and I certainly don't like him. He's an asshole." I mumbled

"Slander him all you want, it won't change what I know. So, do we have a problem?" she asked

"No." I said

"No what?" she asked smirking

"Serious? Like, are you seriously doing this right now?" I asked in disgust and disbelief.

"I'll ask again. Do we have a problem?" she asked really slowly. Fuck her sarcasm.

"No, Samie," I spit her name out like it were poison, "we don't have a problem." I crossed my arms.

"Good. Tooda-loo." she smiled sweetly and waved before going back inside. I turned to the road and sighed.

That asshole drove me here. I'm stranded. I yanked out my phone and called Carry. I may hate her, but my old apartment complex isn't far from here.

"So love, how's life?" Carry asked as we drove down the road to my house.

"Pretty good I guess. So I heard you're with Danny." I said

"Yeah, I am. And?" she asked obviously defensive.

"Nothing, just curious. I'm glad you found someone. And he's a good guy." I lied right through my teeth. Carry is obviously not very bright. She saw what Danny did to me, she was there. And she thinks he won't do the same shit to her? Hah. That's funny.

"He is. I think I'm in love." she said sounding dazed. I tired not to throw up.

"That's good. This is my house. I'll catch you later." I smiled before hopping out her small car and into my house. I was greeted by silence. Sweet, sweet silence. Until of course my phone rang.

'I'm sorry about earlier. I was worried. You're a sweet and beautiful girl, you didn't deserve that'

*To Max;)*

'Fuck off, asswipe. :)'

I sent it, popped the battery out my phone, and hid the severed pieces. I went to my room and climbed in. I've never been so happy for sleep to take me away.
