A/N: Dipper and Mabel are 16. They are friends with Pacifica, who is their same age. Bill is one year older than them, and is a Northwest, meaning he's Pacifica's older brother, and that he is human.
Due to certain conditions, Dipper's and Mabel's parents have sent them up to finish their schooling in Gravity Falls, Oregon under the care of their Grunkle Stan, with the plan of having them return during the summer. So, the opposite of the OG show.
Seeing as summer has recently ended, it's time to go to Oregon to begin the school year. They have been here for a week now. It is the Friday before school starts.
Dipper's P.O.V
Mabel came into our room with some big news, I guess because she seemed pretty excited.
"Hey Dipper guess what?!" I was reading, but I didn't mind entertaining her idea.
"What?" I replied, knowing all too well that she'd reply with: 'That's what, chicken butt.' It was a new phrase she adopted. Not funny.
To my surprise, she responded with something else entirely.
"Pacifica texted me asking us to hang out at her house this afternoon!" What us? Why? What did I do wrong?
I guess we sort of befriended her through that group project thing we had to do at the end of the year, but I doubted that the friendship meant much. Mabel even got her to exchange phone numbers, but the 'talk to you over the summer' promise has always been an empty one. I'm surprised she even remembers us.
"What did you tell her?" I asked.
"Of course I said that we would attend!" Oh no... "I'm going to change." She excitedly pulled an outfit out of the closet and ran to the bathroom.
Today was a good day before the 'good news' condemned me to an afternoon of awkward socialization. What was I supposed to even talk about? 'Hey, how was your summer?' 'Hot.' 'Same' ........ 'So... how was your summer?'
No! I would not be responsible for any awkward situation. Fortunately, Mabel was good at conversation starting; she kind of fails at the conversation ending though... This was going to be a long afternoon.
