Dipper's P.O.V

Grunkle Stan dropped Mabel and I off at the Northwest Mansion.

"Give me a call when you kids are done!" He shouted. Then he drove off, unaware of the plans I was making to kill him in the dead of night for abandoning me in this pompous driveway. We walked up to the door, which Mabel was a bit too eager to knock on, although I couldn't blame her. It had an old-timey knocker. I've read about them in my books, but never had I seen one...

Mabel dropped it much louder than I expected, causing me to jump. After a while, the door was opened by a butler who was shoved out of the way by Pacifica.

"Oh my gosh! Hi..." Her and Mabel excitedly hugged each other. I said a prayer of thanks that I was left out of the hug, only to be dragged into the mess of foreign affection.

Pacifica led us into her house and briefly explained each room as we walked through them, although she seemed rather annoyed at doing so.

"This is some window room, and this hallway leads to my bedroom.." We were still in the window room as she started explaining the rooms ahead; Mabel right by her side, and me lagging behind more and more as I was distracted by the omniscient windows.

We were on a higher level so the view out of the windows was a down-facing view. Out them, you could see a garden of flowers and green. It was breathtaking, not to mention how the sunlight gave the smooth white tile of the room a heavenly glow.

I was interrupted from my daze by a presence. I turned to see a guy, taller than me with blond hair and a yellow t shirt, sitting on the window seat, with a laptop, staring up at me with a questioning look as if wondering what I was doing there. Standing directly in his gaze made my heart beat heavier, which made me wonder if I was going to die. My face heated up, feeling embarrassed, as if I had done something wrong by taking in the sight of their wealth, almost like I couldn't afford to be there. I let out a meek 'sorry', before someone else entered the scene.

"Dipper what are you doing?" Pacifica gathered me up as if I was a lost student on a field trip.

"Uh... I was looking at these windows."

"They're big huh?" though she sounded annoyed by even having to entertain my admiration for the windows.

"Sorry," I said again, and followed down the hall.

We caught back up to Mabel. "What were you even doing?" she laughed.

"I was-"

"He was looking at windows," Pacifica answered for me, "And this is my room. We're going to hang out here."

"Oh sweet!" Mabel shouted as she flopped onto the fluffy turquoise circle rug. I silently sat beside her, and Pacifica sat last.

Mabel and Pacifica had no issues starting up conversation, which was to be expected, knowing my sister. I however got my entertainment from tracing my fingers through her soft carpet and analyzing the room. What kind of person would actually seek us out after a whole summer of zero contact, especially considering that we weren't even that close. We had barely decided that we were acquaintances before having parted ways... and since when did she have a brother?

"I didn't know you had a brother!" I'm not sure what came over me. There was absolutely no reason to make myself apart of the conversation; Mabel was doing that part just fine, and I immediately regretted the comment afterwards.

"William?" Pacifica responded, distastefully "Yeah I've got a brother. When did you even see him?"

"Oh.. just in the window room."

"Well he keeps to himself so, you won't hear from him."

After a bit of silence, she addressed Mabel again. William, huh? It was annoying that she shrugged off my attempt at conversation, but it's not like I had much to say on the topic, well not thoughts that I could put into words. My face felt a bit heated from her judging look at my comment. Was she mad that I had brought him up? I suppose that it won't matter since we won't 'hear from him'. How am I supposed to just not talk to him?

A while later, we were allowed to go home. Pacifica told us that there was a phone on the wall somewhere,(I had left my phone at home, and Mabel's was dead.) and I was willing to make the call while they continued talking. Also I was hoping I could find where the water is, since I haven't had water in quite a while. That last part was doubtful, seeing how this house was quite a big house.

I found the phone that Pacifica described and started to call Grunkle Stan. I made the conversation with Stan successfully brief, and hung up. Right then I heard someone behind me.

"So, what are you doing here?" I spun around to see who it was. It was the one we'd never hear from, and yet hear I was, hearing...

"Uh...., I'm Pacifica's friend."

"Hm, she has friends?"

"Kind of..." I needlessly cleared my throat. I needed my throat quenched, not cleared dammit.

He chuckled a little, "Are you okay there? You sound like you've got a cold or something."

"I'm just thirsty." I replied.

"Well you could ask for a cup of water."

I chuckled nervously. "K" We stood there in silence before I realized that he was waiting for me to ask for a glass of water.

"Could I have some water?"

"Of course." He lead me to a nearby mini kitchen thing, grabbed a glass, and started filling it up for me.

"Alright, there you go." He handed it to me, and I shakily took it. I slowly drank the water as he watched me, the sound of my swallowing emphasized by the awkward atmosphere.

"Is that better?" he asked.

"Yeah," I exhaled. "Thank you."

"Now you know where the water is for next time." Next time... that sounded strangely nice..

Just then, Mabel came running down the hallway towards me, "We've got to hurry. Grunkle Stan has been waiting for us. Come on!" She grabbed my arm and pulled me along to wherever she thought the front of the house was. I considered saying good bye, but Mabel dragged me away before I could.

She pulled me down the front steps, which I nearly died on, and to the rusted white truck Stan was waiting in. Mabel shouted good bye to Pacifica, who was waving through her window and pushed me into the passenger before climbing in herself.

She let out a huge breath before profusely apologizing for our lateness, which Stan said was fine. He continued talking, but I didn't really hear, or care. I was annoyed that I didn't get to say good bye.
