18: Texting in Class

Dipper's P.O.V

My entire weekend was spent with Mabel bothering me with things like wedding plans and possible names for children. The whole thing was really unnerving. I tried to tell her that one date doesn't equate to marriage, but she was fully convinced that we had kissed, which I guess is super special, and I couldn't deny it because a kiss did happen. I've just felt like a sitting duck. I wasn't able to talk to her all weekend, but now it's Monday, so I can address the issue which is our 'relationship' as Mabel calls it.

I was at my locker preparing for my first class. I don't sit by Pacifica in any of my morning classes, so I'll have to wait to talk to her at lunch. I could talk to her when I was at her house doing homework, but I want to talk to her as soon as possible. 

I went to my first class and sat by the window where I always sat. I had started dosing off when I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. After giving the room a quick glance, I pulled it out to see what it was.

B: So what did you do to make my sister so upset?

What did I do? Literally nothing. It was her fault that anything went down hill.

B: When I told you to have the date go bad, I didn't think you'd make her cry. First date and already you're breaking hearts...

I think 'breaking hearts' is a bit extreme considering that I hardly even spoke to her, let alone hurt her. Wait, did he say crying?!

D: Why are you texting during class? You're going to get in trouble, and if you have a teacher who reads the conversations out loud, I swear I will slap you.

B: Well lately you've been spending all of our time together with my sister, so this is the only way I can talk to you. Besides the teacher is out of the room. I'm smart. I know what I'm doing.

I have been spending a lot of time with Pacifica. Not on my own accord exactly.

B: Now answer my question.

Great, this topic. I rather not relive the event, but he won't stop until I tell him.

D: I didn't do anything to her. She ruined it on her own.

B: Well then, what did she do?

D: We were just sitting there having a good time when she just had to make things weird. We were hanging out like how friends would. Things were actually going well, it's a good thing that she ruined it.

B: What did she do though?

I don't know why I was dodging the question myself. I guess I just don't want to hash out something that essentially meant nothing. Also I didn't want to talk about the implications that come with the nothing feeling.

D: She freaking kissed me, without warning or anything!

B: And.. how did it feel?

Ugh, of course. 

D: Dull. I don't know why people make such a big deal out of first kisses, there wasn't anything special about it.

B: That was your first kiss? Damn you've got to get out more.

D: I don't want to get out more. I don't think I'll ever go on a date again.

B: Was it really that bad? 

D: Yes

B: Well, maybe don't give up on romance yet.

D: Why not?

B: You're a nice guy. Someone would be lucky to have you.

D: I don't know. I think I'm too weird for anyone to like me.

B: You got my sister to like you, and she's an extremely judgmental person. 

She was extremely judgmental. He had a point there.

D: I don't know. It's definitely not a concern of mine right now.

B: That's alright. Just focus on class then, nerd.

D: You don't have to be a nerd to listen in class. 

B: Actually, nobody cares about what the teacher is saying except for the nerds. Take a moment and look around. The people you relate to most will be the only ones listening.

I don't really relate to anyone, but I still glanced around to be sure.

D: For the record, I was sleeping before you started talking to me.

B: Oo rebellious.

In the end, I don't think there's any winning this argument, so I surrendered.

D: Okay fine, I'm a nerd. Happy now?

B: Yes. Now seriously stop talking to me. I've got to focus.

I laughed quietly to myself before responding.

D: Okay then nerd. Talk to you later.

I took my phone and shoved it back in my pocket after I heard my teacher talking to some other kid about his phone.

A/N: Turns out I was able to update after all. If you wanna check out the book I talked about in the AN, then I've published the first five chapters of it. I'll probably update on this book again real soon, since I've remembered were I want to go with it.
