Dipper's P.O.V
Finally it was the end of the day. I'm still surprised that Bill came to our school. I haven't seen him around campus, and there are other schools in the area that would probably be more appealing to him. I guess it must've been a choice of his parents or something. Whatever the case was, I suppose it wasn't as bizarre as I'm making it out to be.
I had more important matters at hand like finishing homework so I could watch that video. I've been perhaps too excited about it, but in a boring day, it's easy to get over excited about something small like ice cream in the freezer, and everyday was a boring day.
I was doing math on the window seat; I figured that the heat of the sun would help me focus. Besides, it felt weird listening to the girls talk about boys, seeing how I was a boy myself. Once again, I'm a brother, not a girl friend.
The heat from the sun was a success. I was only 5 problems away from being done. Suddenly, I felt the cushion lower beside me which made me jump. I looked to my side, and of course, the person was Bill. Damn he was sneaky. It freaks me out.
"What, did I scare you?" he asked at seeing me jump.
"Yeah you did! Y-you can't sneak up on people. It isn't nice." He laughed at that. I guess I said something funny.
"Sorry I'm not being 'nice'." He replied after a while.
"Ugh, don't make fun of me.." I said, kind of whiny. Seriously though, when people repeat my words, it makes me feel dumb.
"How come? Is it not nice?"
"Stop it!" I yelled feeling flustered as my face heated up.
"Aw, Pinetree is blushing..." Psh blushing? Not even close. That was rage. Yeah.
"No I'm not. I'm just mad..."
"Why are you mad?" Ugh I hate getting teased so intensely. I never know how to respond. It was a spiral of being embarrassed and being teased because of it.
To end the spiral, I had to change the topic.
"Why did you even come here?" He seemed to find the fact that I was changing the topic amusing, but complied with the change.
"To show you the video! That was the plan right?"
"Yes." I answered with an exhale. "Do you have it with you?"
"Yep" He placed his laptop bag onto his lap and pulled the laptop out. It was a black Dell. Quality, at least in my opinion.
I guess he noticed me eyeing his laptop cause he said, "Yeah, I got her 2 weeks ago actually. She works well."
"She?"
"Yeah, just look at her. Obviously female." I failed to see anything female about it, or male for that matter.
"I think the word you're looking for is neuter, since things don't have gender."
"Oh shut up, you're just jealous that you can't be female like her." What? I- I'm happy being male. I'm a guy, and I want to be a guy. What was that even about?
"Oh gosh Pinetree, it was a joke." Neither of us said anything while he pulled up the video.
"Ok here it is." With that, he gave me an earbud and pressed play.
I watched in silence as I heard his voice pointing out everything wrong with the movie. Most of it was the things I said, although there were a few comments he made that I didn't even notice before. He was pretty funny about it too. I laughed quite a bit. Also there was a counter that dinged every time a flaw was pointed out. At the end I was pleased to see the number at a justifiably large number. In your face, Hollywood!
"So," he said as I gave him back his earbud, "what did you think? Did I do the show justice?"
I nodded in response. "It was great."
"Good." He wrapped up his headphones and put them and the laptop into their case.
"So, what were you doing, before I sat down?" he asked.
"Homework"
"Still, you're usually done by then...." What did that mean? I thought I was doing it faster than usual today.
"Well, are you done now?" he asked.
"Not yet.."
"Is it hard today? I can help if you want."
"Um, it's not that difficult today. I just had trouble focusing which is why I'm sitting out here."
"Oh, I'll be here if you need help."
"Okay." I appreciated the gesture even though it was pointless. I'm good at school. Hint: I listen. I pulled my text book onto my lap, and got my pencil back in hand. It'd be a lie to say that math was simple, but in the end, I could figure it out. I just had to refer to my notes at times. I glanced over at Bill who was doing something on his phone. Good, that meant he wasn't watching me do math.
I was able to finish in time before I noticed that it was time to go. I stood up and started to gather my stuff.
"Bye Bill." I turned to leave when he stopped me.
"Hey Pinetree, you should give me your number." I turned around confused.
"Why?"
"So I could text you. What else would I use it for."
"Why would you text me?"
"Oh Pinetree, you're acting like the concept of friendship is foreign to you. You've had friends before, right?"
"Well yeah, but I don't text them."
"Tsk that's got to change..." I guess he wasn't going to let it go.
"It's (insert number)." The silence cued me that he was satisfied, and I was now excused. I left and got into the white truck waiting to pick us up with Mabel climbing in afterwards. Wendy was at the wheel; she usually is, since Grunkle Stan is too lazy to pick us up.
"So did you kids have fun?" she asked as she pulled out.
As usual, Mabel answered with all these stories while I simply answered with a nod.
