My I slowly put more weight on the gas pedal as we sped through the neighbourhood. Cars flashed by as we drove down the long winding road to town. 60, 65, 70, 80. The purr of the engine grew louder the closer we got to Salem High. Aaron and Jason were white knuckling in the backseat as we flew past buildings and around corners.

"Could you go any faster or is that possible?!" Aaron yelped

I sped up a bit more. "Don't test me," I snapped as I let my foot off the pedal to normal speed again. "You should have been ready last night anyways."

Aaron stuttered as he tried to come up with an excuse as to why he wasn't ready. Thankfully by this time we pulled into the school parking lot. The old brick building loomed over the parking lot casting a shadow on the sign which claimed the  property Salem High School est. 1957. The paint was peeling off the sign so much you could mostly only see the dark outline on where the paint used to be. I pulled into my reserved parking spot- the Student Body President. The silver Toyota Camry squeaked to a stop as I pulled in the spot. I took the keys out of the ignition as I grabbed my duffle out of the passenger seat and jumped out of the car. In no time I was already racing to the gymnasium entrance. An old school bell with the rope still hanging on it hung right above the doors slightly jingling in the breeze. The sound of my toms smacking the hard cement echoed off the walls as I neared the door. I yanked open the door and the usual rush of heat came at me. Noise and commotion was all around me as I entered the massive gym. Wrestling mats were layed out wall to wall, guys in singlets, people talking. I stopped and looked around to see if I could find Ashley. Just then someone pinched my side and I flew around to come face to face with Ashley.

"Where have you been Bailey? I've been waiting for half an hour!" Ashley squealed.

I sighed and flipped my braid as I scanned the gym before turning back to Ashley. "So uh, Ash, what was so important here that you had to scream in my ear?" I question.

She had an ear to ear grin as she pointed at someone. "him."  she breathed. I realized she was pointing to a guy in the far corner of the gym. He was tall, maybe about 5'9 but just a little chubby. He had short black hair and brown eyes. I would definitely consider him attractive. He was wearing a green and black singlet with standard black wrestling shoes.

"Isn't.. isn't... that a.. a... a... Manta High boy?" I stutter as I watch him stretch into a quad stretch.

"Yes. It is," Ashley sighed. "one of the best guys on the team."

I wanted to stare at him for longer until Jason and Aaron rushed in the door behind me.

"C'mon bay stop goggling at the other guys and let's go to the mats." Jason huskily barked. Reluctantly I followed my brothers with Ashley trailing behind. I looked over the competition. There were few girls there I noted.
Thank god its just a takedown tournament.

I made my way through the gym to the ladies locker room. As I walked into the door I heard giggling which was normal. They're probably talking about boys. On an average day I would think nothing of this but just then I heard something that caught my attention.

"Have you girls seen Emmett Brooks? He's such a hottie!" one girl giggled.

"Ooh isn't that the new Manta High boy?" the other girl questioned.

The first girl sighed as she said "Ugh Macy isn't it obvious I'm talking about Emmett?" As she said this her voice got fainter. They were probably walking back to the lockers.

I slowly entered the doorway trying to not cause a commotion that would make them realize my presence. I walked past the showers closer to the lockers. I stopped and set my stuff down on the bench in the locker bank behind the other girls.

"Well Ariel if you like him so much then why don't you ask him out?" Macy asked.

"Oh my god Macy I barely know the guy! Its the guys job to ask the girl out In the first place" Ariel declared.

"Yeah well either way he is cute," Macy whispered.

There was a silence for a moment. I began to wonder if they knew about my presence. Ariel broke the silence by telling Macy they should get back to class. I heard footsteps coming and I quickly opened my bag to look busy. The girls made their way past me slowly. I saw Ariel looking me up and down out of the corner of my eye.  Ariel was about 5'5 with dirty blonde hair that ran down to her upper

back. She had blue eyes and a lovely complexion. Macy also had blonde hair that went to her shoulders, cobalt blue eyes and pink braces. Ariel snapped her gum at me as she slung her book bag over her shoulder and that was that.
