Found and Lost

Chapter 30: The messages

Sara was unpacking her bag in the motorhome in Monza when her phone rang. She read the email she got, and at some point she dropped her phone.

-"What the...?!!"- she almost screamed. Checo, who was returning from his track walk, entered the motorhome running after listening her.

-"What happened?"- he asked, worried.

-"How did he got my email?"- she said upset. -"But that's not the worst,"- she made a small pause. -"He's demanding me for not letting him to see Angie, he wants the full custody... I was summoned to court in mid-February"- she continued, making small pauses as she read the email for the fourth time in the last half an hour.

-"He's not going to get what he wants"- Checo said, giving his fianceé a protecting hug.

-"I told you this time things would be in my favor"- Nick said, holding her daughter in his arms

-"Mami, mami!"- Angie screamed, trying to get away from Nick's arms

-Angie, no, no, no!"- Sara said, half asleep. She started to move, trying to fight. Suddenly she woke up, very agitated and sweating. She was also crying. In that moment, Checo woke up.

-"Don't worry, it's just a nightmare"- Checo said, comforting her.

-"I'm scared this time he'll take her with him forever"- She said, starting to cry again.

-"He won't have it easy"- he said. After reassuring to her that everything was a nightmare and that everything would be fine, both fall asleep.

The next day, to distract a lil bit, Sara arrived early to the track to get some snaps of the GP3 and GP2 races. Later, she went back to her regular duties, taking pics of her fiance. The Italian GP wasn't bad for Mercedes, Checo scored a second place behind Ricciardo. The next weeks passed by fast, between photoshoots, work and spending some time with her daughter.

-"He's so cute, he's starting to look so much like you"- Sara said to Vivi while holding the three week old baby, before starting with the photoshoot.

-"He's as cute as his dad"- Nico said, taking the baby from her mom's arms.

-"You're lucky he wasn't born while we were in Singapore"- Checo commented

-"Yes, I wouldn't have made it in time. I'm sure you persuaded him to be born during the race day so you could still lead the championship, mate"- Nico said to Checo, joking

-"You've discovered my plan!"- Checo said, laughing. -"Please, never go into labor during a race weekend! Really don't want to miss a race"- Checo said to Sara, who made an odd face. Vivi and Nico couldn't help laughing. 

The next weekend, in Malaysia...

-"Wow I can't believe we're getting married in less than 3 months!"- Checo said to Sara while through the paddock, after finishing the post race duties. But she didn't say a word. He turned to see her, she then said something.

-"He's not giving up"- she said, giving her phone to him.

  -"Hope you're considering it. She needs a more stable life that you can't give to her. The sooner you take the decision, the better it will be for both."- Checo read. -"This guy is completely wrong. The journey back home felt longer than it was for Sara, her mind was somewhere else.

-¡Mami!- Angie screamed and ran to Sara as soon as she and Checo crossed the door.

-"Hey hon!"- Sara said, giving a huge hug to her daughter. Suddenly, a couple of tears started to fall from her eyes.

-"Why are you crying, mommy?"- Angie asked after noticing her mom was crying

-"Missed you so much"- Sara said

That night...

-"He's right, she deserves much more than this"- Sara said, starting to cry. Checo hugged her tight. After a moment, she spoke again. -"I'm such a bad mom, I should quit and have a more normal life..."- she said sobbing.

-"No, hon, you're a great mom that has made sacrifices for her daughter. She has everything she needs, and most importantly, love. He's the one wrong."- Checo said, then he wiped her tears and gave her a kiss in the forehead.

-"You're right"- she said and kissed him. -"Thanks for cheering me up and for being there for us"- she kissed him again.
