Chapter 14: Who do you love?

Angie, Sara and Checo arrived to Mexico City a week before the race. Checo had some events with his sponsors and then, he and Sara were travelling to Austin, leaving Angie with her grandparents. The day before leaving to the USA, Sara's parents invited them to dinner at their house to wish him luck.

"Dad, Checo, dinner is served!"- Angie shouted at them, who were talking in her dad's office.

"Ok hun, we're coming in a moment"- Checo said. A couple of minutes later, he and Arturo were out and on their way to de dinning room. During the dinner, both men were grinning.

"Why are you two acting weird?"- Sara asked to his dad and boyfriend.

"Nothing, love. Just business, right sir?"- Checo said.

"Oh right, just business. You'll see when it's time."- Her dad said. Sara was wondering what they're planning, given the fact her dad wasn't a huge fan of motorsports, there were not many common interests between them for setting a business.

A couple of days later, in Austin...

"Are you going to tell me what kind of business you and dad are planning?"- Sara asked to Checo.

"I cant'tell you, It's a surprise and you'll see it when it's time."- he answered to her question, giving her some kisses.

The morning before the race...

"I'm going in a moment, just let me make some calls. See you before divers'parade!- He said.

"Hun, are you ok? I've seen you acting nervously the last couple of days..."- she said, taking her backpack.

"Don't worry, I'm fine"- he said, and gave her a quick kiss before she left. just when she closed the door, he hurried to search for her belongs and pack her bag. Once done, he left the room empty and rushed to the track.

During drivers'parade...

"¡Hola, amiga!"- Sara heard and felt a touch on her shoulders. She turned her head to find Howie.

"Hola amigo"- she said, kissing and hugging him. "Didn't know you're coming here."- she said.

"Well, we're invited to sing the National Anthem. We're all admiring the cars, but AJ and Nick are like kids in a candy store."- he said and both laughed.

"No doubt about them, Nick and AJ love cars"- Sara mentioned.

"Sorry, gotta go and get ready. Catch you later!"- He said after running quickly to the finish line to get ready to sing. Sara waved back.

"Singing the national anthem, ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the Backstreet Boys"- the host said. The "boys" started to sing the anthem a capella.

A couple of minutes later, the race started. There was a crash in the first corner, the Manor and a McLaren touched, leaving some debris. The marshals deployed a yellow flag to clear the debris and retire Steven's car. The race was green flagged soon, giving a chance to Rosberg and Checo to get closer to Hamilton, who was leading. After that, the race was trouble-free. Just 8 laps to go, the Rosberg passed Hamilton, and the Mexican passed the British driver in less than a lap. Soon, he was fighting for the win. The German was defending his position but the battle was won by Checo, who crossed the finish line in first place.

"Congrats, amor"- Sara said to her man when he arrived to the parc fermé. He gave her a hug and continued celebrating with his team.

All the activities were over a couple of hours after the race. Sara finally returned to Force India's area to properly congratulate her boyfriend. She entered to his room to find a note on the massage bed.

"Seems he is urged to see me and celebrate but, why so far?"- she asked to herself out loud. Xavi, who was entering the office, heard her.

"Glad you found the note. Now, go to celebrate with him"- he said to her.

Two hours later, in San Antonio....

"I don't know why he made me come here"- Sara said, entering in the River Walk. Checo would be waiting for her there, near one of her favorite restaurants in the region. She was looking for her man, but still no signs of him yet. Suddenly, someone touched her shoulder.

"Hi there"- Nick said. "Nice coincidence".

"Oh hi"- she was surprised to see him. here was a small moment of silence.

"Don't think I'm following you, please. I'm performing in a place nerby and came for a walk before the show"- he said.

"It's fine"- she said, like not wanting to talk. Another moment of silence and again, Nick spoke.

"Well, I'd like to take the chance to talk with you... about us"- the blonde said. Sara was looking at him, feelling uncomfortable.

"About us?"- she responded, upset.

"Yes, about us. Look, I committed a big mistake letting you go that day. I wasn't ready to have a big responsibility. But now I've changed my mind. I want you back, you and our daughter together as the family we'd have been since the beginning"- he said.

"Where did you found I had a daughter?!"- she asked.

"Well, I saw a picture of her with you two and the Doroughs"- he said. "let me show you I still love you. I haven't stop thinking about you."- he continued, getting closer to her.

"I'm sorry but I'm happily in a relationship with a man who cares about me and my daughter!"- Sara said upset. "I don't feel anything about yo..."- she was saying, but Nick got closer to her and gave her a kiss, which Sara hesitated at the beginning but responded back to his tongue and soft lips. She didn't notice Checo was standing there, looking at the scene, until he spoke.

"Sara?!"- he said. He kept his temper, for a moment.

"Checo.... It's not what..."- she was saying but Checo interrupted her.

"It never crossed to my mind you could do something like this!"- he shouted. "I had plans with you, but it doesn't matter now. Go and start the family you wanted, with Angie's father"- after saying that, he left the place, hurted. Some people who were passing by, stopped for a moment to see what was going on.

"Checo, please wait!"- Sara shouted, crying. But he didn't turn back. And Nick left the place. She was now alone. She walked back to their hotel, hoping to see Checo in their room. But he, and his belongs, were not there. She tried to call him without success.
