Chapter 22: Knowing the truth

Sara was on her way to the track, it was Thursday and she didn't has to arrive early. After taking breakfast in her room, she took her backpack and left her room. She was waiting the elevator when someone approached to her.

-"I still can't believe he's still with you"- Karla said.

-"For your bad luck"- Sara said back.

-"I don't get why he is with you. You can't give him a child, instead I am"- Karla said, caressing her almost 6 months belly. Sara stared at her, her heart felt broken. After a few seconds, she managed to gesticulate a word.

-"You're right, I'm not capable to give him the family he wants"- she said, walking to her room.

The elevator arrived, and the doors opened.

-"Hey, I was waitin' for you in the lovy"- Lewis said.

-"Sorry, I had to do some business"- she said. Then he took his arm and took the elevator.

-"Did you tell her about the baby?"- he asked

-"Not exactly"- she said. -"But I convinced her she's not..."- she was saying with an evil tone. But her expression changed to worried when Lewis stared at her very serious.

-"That's not the point!"- he said upset. The elevator arrived to the parking lot and both left the elevator. -"The point is to tell them the truth"- he continued.

-"That's what I told her!"- she said, almost in tears.

"But not that truth!"- he shouted. -"You better tell them before the end of the weekend or I'm not going to do my part of the deal!" - he said, opening the door of his car and helping her to enter.

-"But you promised..."- Karla said, sobbing. He reminded quite.

-"Have you seen Sara?"- Checo asked to one of the Force India media guys. It was almost time to leave the track and he hasn't'seen her there in all the day.

-"She called saying she wasn't feeling good and asked to take the day off"- Bridget, the team's PR, said to him.

Checo called Sara but she didn't answer. He decided to go to the hotel and check her. He arrived and entered the room. She found Sara laying in the bed, crying.

-"Hun, what happened?"- he asked gently, caressing her back. She turned to him, she had pretty red eyes.

-"She's right"- she said, sobbing.

-"Who is right?"- he asked.

-"Karla. I'm not capable of giving you a family. You should brake with me and find someone better"- she said, sobbing. He couldn't believe that. He hold her hands and spoke.

-"Really? She's completely crazy!"- he took a pause. -"Look at me",- he said, holding her face with his hands, -"never believe what she says. Did you forget what I said to you not so long ago?"- he continued. She was still sobbing.

-"That you love me and that you don't care what everyone says. We're a family"- she said, sobbing between words. He stood to her height.

"That's right. I'm happy with you and Angie. We're a little family. Our little one of our own will come when it's the right time."- he told her.

-"But we've tried and lost one. I'm scared that happens again"- she said

-"I was worried too, but we're healthy. Maybe it's matter of patience and our little one of our own will come when it's the right time. Meanwhile, we can practice"- he said smirking. She smiled, for the first time in the day, and they kissed.

-"I don't want to see you crying, specially for that"- he said, after breaking the intense kiss. "I have a couple of surprises for you that are going to make you smile again"- he said.

-"Really?"- she said, excited. She loved his surprises, except the ones that made her upset like when he gave Angie the kart or that night Checo arrived home in the middle of the night unexpectedly. He almost called the police, thinking an strangered entered her apartment.

That Sunday after the race...

-"What a great battle with Nico, hun!"- Sara said to Checo after he finished with the post race interviews and celebrations.

-"Thanks, mi amor. The championship is getting tight and I like it."- he said, giving her a kiss. They're walking to their car when they listened to a discussion. They decided to ignore it and continue their way.

-"Please, don't leave me!"- Karla begged, trying to hold Hamilton's hands.

-"I gave you a chance!"- Hamilton shouted, getting away of her.

-"But..."- she said before being interrupted by him.

-"Look, they're there"- he said in low voice, pointing where Sara and Sergio where. -"This is your last chance"- he said, very serious.

It took Karla a few moments to make her decision. She took some breathe and walked to where the couple was. They're climbing to the car when she interrupted them.

-"Checo, I have something to tell you"- Karla said.

-"If it's about that baby or what you said to Sara..."- he said before Karla continued talking

-"You're right! The baby,"- she said, making some pauses, -"it's not yours"- she finally confessed.

-"I knew it!"- Checo shouted.

-"Actually it's mine"- Hamilton said very proud. Sara and Checo were surprised.

-"Why you lied?"- Sara asked.

-"I wanted him!"- Karla said, -"I knew I had to do something very serious to convince him to be by my side! All I wanted was him and his fame! I wanted to be recognized as his wife and the mother of his kids. I tried everything. Then, Lew and I had some encounters, one thing lead to other, i got pregnant and decided to use it to convince you to leave her. But at the same time I was feeling something for him", -she said, taking some breathe.

-"So you wanted him only for his fame?"- Sara asked- "Not surprised!, You always wanted to be in the spotlight, no matter what!"- she mentioned very upset.

-"Bingo!"- she said. Her voice tone showed pride and mastery. -"But know I found someone better in many ways! You're not going to be as great as him!- she said to Checo

-"Fine for you"- he said, upset.-"Now hope you finally leave us"- he ended. He and Sara entered to their car, ignoring Lewis and Karla, whom seems to be discussing again. The flight back to the south of France was quiet, they couldn't believe what happened.
