When we reached the correct room, Kakashi appeared before us.
"Glad you came, Sakura." He said calmly, watching us. "For your sake, and the others." The others lifted their heads a little, confused by his words. "Now, you can all formally register for the chunin exams."
"Why? What do you mean?" Sakura asked.
"You see, only groups of three are allowed to apply for, and take the chunin exams. That's the way it's always been."
"But Sensei, you said the decision to take the exam was up to the individual, and then there is the problem of the fact there are four of us."
"That's right. I did say that. And don't worry about Kyosuke. We have a special surprise for him waiting inside."
I looked up at that, tilting my head to the side curiously. "What surprise?"
"Was that a lie?" Sakura asked, and Kakashi explained why he didn't tell them about the need for three squad members.
"Sakura, Naruto, Kyosuke, and Sasuke." Kakashi said, smiling. "I'm proud of you. I couldn't ask for a better team. Good luck."
We entered the room, and I immediately began to look around, wondering where my "surprise" was. It had to be my teammates, but I had no idea who to look for. The others were intimidated by the other genin in the room, but I took it all in stride, having already experienced this.
"Oh." I breathed when I saw Ino come running up and draping herself over Sasuke's back. Let's just say, Sasuke was not amused, and neither was Sakura. I sighed when the girls started arguing, but perked right up when I saw Shikamaru and Choji walk over. "Shika!" I said happily, hugging him. "It has been far too long."
"Hey Kyo." He said, voice extremely bored but a small smile on his face. I gasped happily when Kiba, Hinata, and Shino walked over, hugging Kiba soon after.
"Yay, all the rookie leaf ninjas are here!" I reached up to Akamaru when he barked, petting him. "And hello to you too, Aka. I missed you just as much as I missed Kiba!" Akamaru let out a pleased sound as I pet him, Kiba laughing.
"Yeah, it's nice to see you again, too, Kyo."
"You look handsome as ever." I commented, winking at the dog-boy.
"You guys too, huh? Man, everyone's here for this stupid thing." Shikamaru huffed, and Kiba smirked.
"Yep. Here we all are. The ten-" Kiba paused, looking at me. "Hey, wait a minute. There are only teams of three, so why are all of you here?" He asked, and I laughed nervously.
"Kakashi said that they had a surprise for me here, so I assume he meant my teammates, but I have no idea who I'm looking for." I admitted, and almost everyone frowned in confusion at that.
"Oh, you know," Hinata started quietly, "I remember a boy and girl had asked us if we knew you when we came in. I don't know where they are though." She said softly, and I smiled at her. "Really? Well, at least they are both here. Somewhere. Thank you for letting me know, Hinata." She smiled shyly, nodding a little as she started fiddling with her fingers.
Naruto growled as if he suddenly realized something, "Hey, why do you get special-"
"KYOSUKE!!" Two voices cut him off, and my eyes widened as I let out a shout while being tackled to the floor by two bodies that were trying to suffocate me to death.
Oh my god. Malik's voice cut through, awe and excitement in his voice. Oh. My. God!! Kyo! Kyo it's them!
"You're alive!" The male shouted, burying his head in my left shoulder.
