"Girl, where were you yesterday?" Maggie asked Arnell.

"I overslept." She lied.

She didn't feel comfortable putting her business out there. It's not that she didn't trust Maggie, it's just that she didn't want it to blow up in her face like countless other times.

"Damn, I was miserable without you. You know I don't fuck with none of these--"

"Arnell, can I holla at you real quick?" Shaydon cut Maggie off.

Maggie got the memo that it was time for her to leave. "Oh, well, Arnell I catch you later." Maggie said leaving so they could talk.

Arnell started to leave as well, heading in the direction of her class.

"Where you going?" He said grabbing her arm.

Arnell quickly snatched away from his grip. "Get off me."

"Fuck is yo problem?!" He yelled.

"You nigga!" Arnell shot back.

"What you mean?"

Arnell shook her head and laughed to herself. He was really going to play dumb.

"I'm ain't 'bout to do this with you, Shay." Arnell stated. "The entire school already know my business. I'm tired of being the subject everyone talk about."

"Oh, you mean how you fucking Damitri?" He asked.

She couldn't believe the nerve of him. He was worried about a rumor that he heard meanwhile he was actually out there fucking someone else.

"Boy, do you really want to go there right now?" She questioned referring to him cheating on her with Amani.

"I wouldn't have brought it up if I didn't wanna go there." He stated.

"Bye, Shay." Arnell said walking away again.

"Quit walking away from me." He said grabbing her again.

He was pissing her off now. She hated when people touched her when she was mad.

"Don't." She gritted through her teeth.

"Damn man. No means no." Jay said walking up to them. There were a few of his basketball friends behind him.

"This ain't got nothing to do with you, Jay." Shaydon stated looking him up and down.

"That's my sister, so it do got somethin' to do with me." Jay shot back.

"She ain't yo sister. You just best friends wit' her brother." Shaydon shot back.

"Which makes her my sister, nigga. Now leave her alone 'fo we have a problem."

"You ain't scarin' shit, Jay." Shaydon laughed looking down at Jay's boot. He had hurt his leg again. But that wasn't going to stop him if Shaydon tried to get reckless.

"Yeah, whatever nigga." Jay shot back.

"I'll catch you later, Nell." Shaydon said as he let go of Arnell's arm. He jogged up the stairs and disappeared into the crowd of people.
