It was a relatively normal day for the Winchester boys, they had finished taking out two conjoined vamp nests, they were approaching the bunker as well as three am. Sam was trying to sleep and Dean was obnoxiously singing Cherry Pie at the top of his lungs when they heard the familiar "fwoosh" of wings in the backseat. Sam sat up with a start and Dean chuckled.
"Hey Cassie what's up?" He slurred partially from exhaustion partially from a few beers. Cas looked at them like he'd seen a ghost. Sam turned to look.
"What is it man?" Sam asked and Cas looked up, his gravely voice snappish.
"I'm not a man I'm an angel" he grumbled. Sam chuckled.
"Figure of speech, I thought it sounded better than What is it Angel" he smiled and Cas still looked concerned.
"Dude, what is it" Dean asked, sounding direct. Cas shook his head.
"It's just...I didn't mean to come here, it was more my grace being compelled, I'm supposed to go to the bunker with you, heaven compels it, even though I shut off angel radio" he said. The guys both shrugged.
"Anything sinister?" Sam asked, Cas shook his head.
"No, just a familiar feeling." he said, drifting off into his thoughts. The boys brushed it off as he was tired, his battery was down. They drove the last leg of the journey and all climbed into the bunker sleepily, where a pack of angels awaited them. Castiel's feather's were immediately ruffled and the boys we're awake in a heartbeat. An angel knife slid from Castiel's sleeve, demon blade to Dean and Sam went to pull something but the angel in the front held up a hand.
"We mean know harm, we have a gift for Castiel" she smirked, and flicked her wrist. A lesser angel stepped forward and dropped a large brown bag which hit the ground with a soft thump. They looked down at the bag and then up to of course see no angels. Cas was standing rigid behind the boys, his eyes locked on the thing they dropped. He walked towards it slowly, the boys grabbed his shoulders, but he pushed them away.
"Cas come on man that could be anything" Sam said, but Cas just dropped to his knees and slipped the cloth off whatever was in it and choked back a sob. Sam and Dean rushed forward and watched Cas lift a young woman from the bag, soft and pale, peppered with bruises, beautiful, with soft small feathery wings, different than angel's wings, hanging limply from her thin shoulders. Sam sunk to his knees next to Cas and looked at her.
"She's beautiful" Sam breath, and Cas laughed softly through tears and nodded. He gathered her against his chest and stood so he could lay her soft naked body on the table, adjusting her wings so they we're spread under her. They were a soft lavender colour, with long sweeping feathers with gossamer like spider webs between them, they we're so long the tips swept against the floor. Cas smiled.
"This is my friend and love Opal. She's part angel, but mostly faery" Cas said, gently running his fingers over her body, the bruises erasing where he touched.
"She's the only one of her kind, and I was charged to care for her many years ago, until she was taken from me by an unknown source. She was loved by all the angels, despite being the physical embodiment of lust, she was very special to all of us, very pure despite that one piece of her. We searched for years, but never found her, and now she's here" he breathed, running a hand over her crushed sparrow thin throat. After a moment she began breathing, Cas relaxed, her wings gained more colour and filled out, her skin glowed softly, and the three men watched in awe as her huge green and gold eyes opened to look at them. Soft tears, the same colour as her wings slid down her face as she sat up to face Cas.
"Angel" she said softly, and a smile lit her face.
