"This used to be my room." Dan let's go of my hand and opens the door.
The walls are painted in a light blue shade however, nearly all the walls are covered with photographs and notes. In front of the window; that faces the garden, a small desk is placed with a chair. On top of the desk is a photograph of him and his mother. Opposite the desk is his king sized bedroom. On both sides there are bedside tables, one the left side, there is a table lamp and a digital clock. On the other side, there are more photographers framed in a white border.
"It's tidy." I laugh, looking over the pictures.
"Well, mum kinda done it. It was a mess before I left." He admits, sitting on the bed.
"I never knew you had so many pictures."
"Most of them are from when I was younger."
"Dan can I ask you something? If you don't want to tell, it's okay." I ask, turning to face him.
"I know what you want to ask, sit down I'll tell you." He pats the spot next to him. I sit down and he intertwines his hands with mine.
"She was diagnosed with lung cancer 2 years ago. Its getting worse everyday and she needs to wear a breathing tube in order to breath properly. She can barely function on her own. The doctors said that she has roughly less than a year to live." Dan's voice cracks at the end.
"It's okay, she's strong." I reply, squeezing his hand.
"I know, I just wish that she goes away painlessly." He whispers. I nod, planting a small kiss on his cheek.
"Dannnnn." Violet comes screaming in. Dan picks her up and sits her on his lap.
"Look what I drew." She giggles shoving an A4 size of paper to his face.
"Is that me?" He frowns while Violet laughs loudly.
"Yess!" She squeals, Dan turns the paper over so I could see it.
Violet drew him as a stick figure, his hair like noodles but standing upright. I start laughing along with Violet.
"That's amazing!" I shriek, hitting Dan's shoulder. He pulls a face at me but when Violet looks at him, he changes his face into a warm smile.
"Thank you Violet." He replies, pinching her cheek. She claps her small hands and beams back, her eyes glistening. She jumps down from Dan's lap and happily skips away to her room.
Dan gets up and pins the picture on top of his desk.
"What's time picture about?" I ask, pointing to a picture on his wall.
"It's the first gig that Bastille ever played. I was hiding behind Will most of the time because I was shit scared. My mum filmed it, maybe we could see it together?" He beams, laughing at the memory.
"I wish I was there to see you." I laugh, nudging his shoulder.
"I was an emotion wreck! I got drunk after that. But I've changed. I still do get anxious but I dance and walk around on stage to try and be less frightened."
"Oh trust me Daniel, I know! You and your dancing." I giggle seeing his face turn into a frown.
"I'm excellent."
"Whatever you say love." I reply, poking his cheeks.
He grabs my hand and I take a step closer. I cup his clean-shaven cheeks and run my finger along his jawline with my other hand. He closes his eyes, his arms protectively resting around my waist. I trace his soft lips, lingering my fingers across his beautiful feature. He smiles and opens his eyes, staring at me in the eye.
"I love you." I whisper against his lip, running my hand through his soft messy hair. He smiles wider, making my heart beat faster.
"I love you too." He whispers back before he connects his lips on mine. I feel his heart quicken, beating as fast as mine is.
In that moment nothing could have broken us apart. In that moment we were two souls madly in love with one another. In that moment everything felt right, everything was beautiful, everything was perfect.
But that moment doesn't last forever.
