[[8]] Lock the Doors

The day went by quickly; the three girls intermingling between the three groups and making friends with the boys. Never had there ever been a mentor group in the industry before, but Jerome's creation made it possible. Before long, it was time for the groups of boys to go back to their company. While everybody said their goodbyes, Sae and Jin stood at the doorway of the dance room, facing each other. With long moments of silence, Jin rubbed the back of his neck ineptly. 

"I'm glad," said Sae abruptly, breaking the silence. Jin looked at the trainee with bewilderment, not expecting the sudden conversion. Sae looked up to meet Jin's eyes, her eyes once again burning with the same ambition he had seen before. Smiling confidently, she said, "I'm glad you're one of my mentors, Sunbae-nim." 

Hearing her words, Jin glowed. His inner consciousness led him to bring his hand up on top of her head, patting it gently. Sae swiftly grabbed his hand and held it with hers. Questionably, she asked, "What are you doing?"

Jin, coming to a realization pulled his hand away and stepped back in astoundment. Raising his hands as if to say he wasn't guilty of his sudden action, he apologized. But Sae just chuckled and brushed it off, turning him around and pushing him out the door. Once he was out the door, he turned to face Sae again. But before he could say anything, he heard the voices of the other members calling his name. 

Sae, hearing their calls spoke, "You should really go." 

Jin nodded quite quickly, giving a small wave before rushing down the hall to be with his members. Sae bowed her head in reply and looked down the hallway before going back into the room to where Baek-Ah and Min Hyuk sat alone in a circle. She walked over to their small formation, taking a seat in the empty space. Noticing Sae, Min Hyuk and Baek-Ah grinned. 

"That little encounter seems to have made you quite hot Sae-unni," said Baek-Ah teasingly. Sae looked at Baek-Ah in confusion until she realized her face was burning hot. She smacked her cheeks with both her hands, telling herself to calm down. 

Min Hyuk laughed, stating, "Ah, kids these days grow up so fast." At her words, Sae smacked her arm playfully. Shaking her head, she quickly denied the accusation. But a couple more minutes of teasing made her hang her head in shame. Facepalming, she complained, "Can't we talk about something else?"

The two other members looked at each other and then back at a miserable Sae, who looked as if she was about to sink into the floor. They shrugged and both agreed to stop. Moving onto the next topic, Baek-Ah said: "Well, we're going to be releasing a cover album after a while. We need a concept, so there's that." She then put up another finger, adding on. "Oh yeah, there's one other thing you guys don't know about yet. The subgroups."

Min Hyuk and Sae both looked at Sae in perplexity, not having any idea what she was talking about. Baek-Ah looked at the twos' uncertain looks and gave a heavy sigh; time to explain again. 

"So basically, the cover album is..." she started to explain but was cut off by the both of them. "No, no. We understand that, but the other thing," said Min Hyuk. Baek-Ah mouthed an "Oh" in understanding. 

"So Jerome's going to be split into two subgroups. The PD's along with SM director decided since we all look pretty masculine, there's going to be a Jerome-B and Jerome-G. Jerome boys and girls. Some songs we'll perform in boy "form" and some in our normal "forms." But the thing is, the plan to these subgroups has to be kept a secret, even from our mentors. For some apparent reason, the PD's and director-nim thinks that they won't be able to put their best effort if they knew the subgroups were the same people," explained Baek-Ah.  

"We all look pretty masculine? I don't know if I should take that as a compliment or insult," said Sae, crossing her arms. Min Hyuk agreed. But to their complaints, Baek-Ah just shook her head, as in saying "Don't mind it." Looking at Baek-Ah's signal, the two members just accepted that they might be masculine. 

"Third thing," said Baek-Ah in abruptness. "Sae's going to be the leader." 

At her news, Sae's eyes widened. "WHAT?!" she shouted in incredulity. Baek-Ah and Min Hyuk dismissed her sudden shock and each patted one of her shoulders, mouthing "good luck." Sae was shell shocked, she knew nothing about being a leader and she was even more confused on how the boy group was going to work out. Caressing her head in reclusion, she soaked in all the information she'd just been given and let out a loud groan. 

That night, Min Hyuk and Sae stayed in Baek-Ah's room, which was located in the GOT7 dorm, away from where the boys stayed. Walking in, the two members was astounded at how clean Baek-Ah's room was. The walls were a light blue and around the room lay gray furniture and a comfy bed. A closet was set up in the corner and mint colored rugs decorated the floor. On the opposite wall from where they had entered was an open window balcony. Sae's first reaction was to say "Damn, if only my room was this nice." 

Baek-Ah laughed in reply. "Min-unni and Sae-unni, you can sleep on the bed.I'll sleep on the couch," Baek-Ah said respectfully. She was being respectful just this once, since there were guests in her "home." Min Hyuk and Sae unpacked their things, having only brought a change of clothes, towels, and toothbrushes. After unpacking, Min Hyuk asked Baek-Ah where the prospective bathroom was and Baek-Ah went out the room, pointing down the hall. 

"Make sure to lock the door so the boys know you're in there," said Baek-Ah. Min Hyuk laughed and took her nightly necessities down the hallway with her.  After Min Hyuk had left, Sae sat down on the bed and looked around again while Baek-Ah closed the curtains. Looking around for a while, Sae spotted the nicely framed photos that hung on the wall. Pictures of JYP and seemingly young Baek-Ah hung as well as pictures of Baek-Ah with the GOT7 members. But one picture that stood out the most was a picture of Baek-Ah with BamBam. Looking at the picture, Sae asked aloud, "Why is that picture framed?" 

Baek-Ah turned around from her task and looked at the picture that Sae was intently looking at. Looking at the framed photo, she smiled and replied with:

"Well isn't it obvious? He's my best friend."
