The next day at school was grueling. She would stare at the clock in every class, dreading the end of school. Last hour of the day, she sighed as the bell rung. “Don’t forget your homework is due Monday!” Blossom grabbed her backpack, and stood up, ready to exit class. Standing outside of the classroom was Brick, waiting for Blossom. “Mr. Jojo.” The teacher glared while walking past him. “Tch. What a prick,” Brick scowled. Blossom stepped out, looking quite annoyed. “Let’s go now, Pinky.” Blossom sighed once again, walking behind him. “So, where are you taking me?” He turned around, and held his hand out. She gazed awkwardly at him. “What are you doing?” He looked baffled for a second. “Hold my hand, and when we’re out of the building close your eyes. I wanna make it a surprise.” Blossom grabbed his hand with both of hers. He chuckled, “Haven’t you ever held hands with anyone before? Just interlock our fingers, Pinky.” “O-oh… Right…” They intertwined their fingers, and walked down the hallway to the front doors.
Blossom could feel her face burning, everyone kept staring at them. The two polar opposite red heads, about to go on a date. She glanced up to Brick, he looked smug, as usual. She then stared into the dark room, and saw Bubbles developing photos. One of the clubs the blonde frequented, was photography club. Blossom knew Bubbles would be too focused on the photos to help her. Blossom gazed out of the bay windows as they walked down the halls, watching Buttercup play soccer. She could hear everyone whispering to one another. She hated that. “Woah are they together?” “Is she Brick’s new toy?” “I didn’t know Blossom liked bad boys.” They had finally reached the front doors. Blossom tightened her grip on his hand, more people would see them now. Brick looked down at her, and saw her frustrated face, contorted into a frown, with worried eyes. He never thought she would care about holding hands this much. He then thought of her hero reputation, she thought it would be tarnished by him. He just wanted people to know she was off limits. “Hey Blossom.” She looked up at him, “What?” “What if I gave up my bad boy ways for you? How would you feel?” She was taken aback by this. Surely he was joking. The bad boy life was all he had ever known, why would he give up that life for his arch nemesis? He saw her confused look and chuckled. “I was kidding. Being a bad boy has too many perks to give up.” She knew it. Of course it was only a joke, she felt kind of happy though. She didn’t know why she felt satisfied by his statement. She would think about it later, if she remembered. “Close your eyes now, I’ll fly you to the spot.” She looked skeptical. “I don’t exactly trust you flame brain. We are not on the best of terms.” “Ouch. Gotta say, that hurts, and after all we’ve been through.” He dramatically put his free hand over his heart, to mimic being severely wounded by her comment. She giggled a bit. When he noticed, he smiled, loving her laugh. She notices him staring, and looks down. “S-so let’s get going.” She closes her eyes, expecting him to pull at her hand to signal her to start flying. She instead feels herself being lifted off the ground bridal style. She shot open her eyes holding onto his shoulder, and neck tightly. She felt so embarrassed at that moment. He looked down at her, satisfied by her blushing look, and took off toward the sky.
“I told you to keep your eyes closed Powderpuff, the surprise is gonna be ruined.” Blossom’s flushed face pouted. “How do I know you’re not gonna take me to the woods and kill me?” Brick wrapped his arms around her small frame tighter. “Because, I just won’t battle you anymore.” Blossom closed her eyes. She didn’t want to, but something compelled her to do so. “I can fly too you know.” She narrowed her eyebrows. Okay, now HE was starting to get annoyed. “Look, why don’t you just drop your attitude and maybe we’ll get to have fun on our date.” She began to spit fire back at him. “The only reason this “date” is even happening is because YOU won’t give me back MY property!” He sighed, exasperated by the small argument. “You’re right, but you wouldn’t have agreed to this any other way.” “You’re… Right as well I suppose…” Blossom loosened her grip on Brick. “Why do you even wanna date me anyway? I’m not what you’d call “cool” or “fun”.” “Okay, open your eyes Pinky.” She looked into his blazing red eyes. “ I just like you Blossom.” Her face began to turn even more crimson. She remained silent for the rest of the flight.
Her heart kept pounding in her chest to the point of where it hurt. She clutched her chest hoping the pressure would subdue the pain. She was so confused, why would she be reacting this way? Other boys have confessed to her before, but none ever made her feel like this. He landed onto the forest floor, and put her on her feet. He let go of her, and all of a sudden she felt as if a weight had been lifted off of her. Her heart began to slow its pace. He grasped her hand once more, and began walking down a secret path. Her face started burning again, and her heart lept out of her chest. How could such light contact make her feel so embarrassed? After what felt like hours of walking, they came to a clearing. “I know this seems cliche, but ‘ya know... I’m not very good with romance, that’s more of Boomer’s thing.” They were standing at the edge of a cliff, overlooking the whole town. The sun was showing off its brilliant oranges, reds, and yellows. She loved this scenery. In all of her years living in this monster infested town, she had never seen a more beautiful sight. “Beautiful…” she whispered. He watched her bask in the sunsets essence. He wanted to be a cheesy dork and tell her, “Not as beautiful as you.” But that seemed too cliche to say, so he went with something else. “I know right. This is where I come to whenever I’m stressed.” She glanced over her shoulder, “what are you stressed about?” He sat down on the green grass, then proceeded to pat the spot next to him, signaling her to take a seat by him. She seemed weary at first, but slowly made her way to his side. He laced their fingers together, and she was dying at this point. Too much contact from him today, she didn’t like her heart throbbing like it did. “I am stressed about a lot of stuff Bloss. My brother’s fighting with one another all the time, I used to encourage it when I was a kiddo, but now it’s just annoying. There’s my old man and “mom” I guess, wanting me to become this evil prince. Then there’s these chicks that won’t leave me alone. I used to roll with whatever girl wanted me, but I don’t want them anymore…” He sighed, “I just want one girl.” She seemed annoyed by the player part of his stress, but asked a question anyway. “Who is this girl you want?” He unlaced their fingers and wrapped his arm around her shoulder. She was unprepared for this and looked up at him. “I already told you I like you Bloss, so the girl I want is you.” How could she have been so stupid, he had already confessed to her on their flight here. “H-huh?” His hand cupped her face, and she tensed at the sudden touch. Her eyes widened as his face inched towards hers. He pressed his lips onto hers, and she pulled away instinctively. She jumped up and ran off into the forest. She no longer cared about her phone, she just needed to be away from him for a bit. This was so much to process in so little time, and she had no idea on how she should feel about him now. Her first kiss...Was with her arch nemesis.
