Brick was watching the clock count down to the bell, ending his second hour. As the hands moved, he relished the thought of seeing his girlfriend. He figured she would be flustered and not be able to look at him. He started to smile, her flushed face was adorable. The bell rang signaling the end of class. As people crowded out the door, Brick gathered his belongings. Crowds weren’t for him anymore. He decided to skip escorting Blossom to class since they would be together third hour. He walked through the hall to the first floor of the building, and entered Ms. Fay’s classroom. He sat his bag down in the chair next to him, saving Blossom a spot. As he waited for her to arrive, he talked to some of his friends. He must of been really into the conversation because he didn’t notice Blossom walk into the room.

Blossom strode into the classroom, wanting to apologize to Brick. She saw him talking to his friends, he looked so happy. She walked up behind him and tapped him on the shoulder. “U-um Brick?” Brick turned around. “Hey, what’s up?” One of Brick’s friends interrupted them. “Hey, get lost nerd, we were having a private discussion.” Blossom lowered her gaze. “Oh… I’m sorry, I just wanted to talk to Brick, privately.”

Brick was annoyed. These meatheads don’t understand anything. As Blossom fought with his friend, Brick grabbed her hand, and gave her a quick peck. “Alright you dips, Pinky here is my girlfriend. She’s numero uno right now. Talk to you guys after class.” The guys backed up. “S-sorry dude, we didn’t know.” Brick moved his bag out of Blossom’s seat. “Don’t apologize to me, apologize to her.” His friends stammered out apologies, as they moved to sit at another table. Brick looked to Blossom she sat down next to him. She looked really conflicted. “Hey you okay baby?” He saw her face heat up, and she clenched her hands in her skirt. “Oh! Yes, I’m okay. I just wanted to say I’m sorry for um- what I did this morning. I didn’t mean to scratch you…” Brick blushed. “It’s okay, I liked it. You didn’t dig your nails deep enough to do any damage…” He rubbed the back of his neck. More people began to flood into the classroom. Blossom grabbed for his hand. “A-are you sure?” Brick smirked. “Do you wanna inspect the damage?” As he said that he wiggled his eyebrows. Blossom giggled, “maybe later…” Brick covered his face with his hand to hide his blush. Blossom squeezed his hand. “But really… You’re not mad are you?” Brick interlaced their fingers. “Of course not Blossom. Don’t worry about that sort of thing too much okay?” Blossom put their hands under the table. “Okay.” The bell rang, marking the beginning of class. Ms. Fay closed the classroom door and walked past the two red heads. “No fights are going to break out in class are there?” The two stammered out ‘no.’ As Ms. Fay sat at her desk she caught a glimpse of them holding hands under the table. She smiled to herself because… Her ship was sailing!!! Ms. Fay was fangirling on the inside, she knew they’d date sooner or later. Being a fangirl was hard when you paired students together. The class stared at their teacher as smiled triumphantly to herself.  She collected herself and started out the lesson. “Today, as you all know, we start a new assignment! I want you to work in pairs on this one. I know that sounds strange since this is art class, but a collaborative piece sounds pretty awesome to me.” A boy raised his hand. “Ms. Fay, I thought our next assignment was about propaganda?” Ms. Fay turned to him. “Travis not anymore. I’m a art teacher, I’m wacky. I could say the next project is to draw a pencil, but the next day I could say it’s about nature. Ya never know.” Travis looked confused, but didn’t say anything else. “Anywho! This piece can be over any school appropriate subject you want, just as long as you put some meaning into it. I believe you can do it! Now go ahead and get started.”

Blossom and Brick looked at each other, then the rest of the classroom. Everyone had paired up with someone, so it was just them. “So Pinky, what do you wanna do this over?” Blossom pondered for a bit. “Well, how about what love feels like? If I were doing this by myself, I’d paint a woman with butterflies in her tummy, because it’s all I feel when I’m with you.” Brick chuckled, “Me too Bloss.” He thought about his own idea for a while, art wasn’t what he excelled at. “Do you wanna do something with a couple watching a movie? I dunno.” Blossom got out a piece of paper. “What if we do a combination of both of our ideas? Butterflies in a couples stomach as they sit content doing a simple task together.” Brick nodded, “ Sounds cool.” Blossom handed the pencil to Brick. “Wanna draw an outline, I can do the details.” Brick took the pencil and did as she requested. They finished what they both thought would be a good project, and showed Ms. Fay their sketch. “This is simple and sweet, if I had to guess the message, I would say love. Am I right?” Brick crossed his arms, and Blossom twiddled her thumbs. They both answered ‘yes.’ Ms. Fay smiled. “I look forward to the finished product you two, go ahead and start on it.”

The day went uneventful after third hour. Blossom and Brick ate lunch together, and finished the rest of the days classes. The bell rang signaling the end of school for the day. Brick stood outside of Blossom’s last class, waiting for her. She was the first out. Brick snatched her hand and laced their fingers, he placed a kiss on the back of her hand. Blossom smiled. “Hey sweetie, how was the rest of your day?” Brick grumbled. “It was boring. You weren’t there.” Blossom playfully pushed him. “Psh, whatever dork.” Brick snickered. “How was yours Bloss?” Blossom sighed. “It was okay I guess, but there isn’t any homework today. What am I going to do with my hour of homework time?” They exited the school building. Brick scooped Blossom up in his arms, and took off towards the sky. “Let me take up that time.”

Blossom and Brick were on top of a new building that wasn’t open yet. Blossom pouted. “This isn’t really romantic Brick.” Brick took his phone out of his pocket and set some slow music on. He dramatically held out his hand. “May I have this dance Miss Utonium?” Blossom stifled back a laugh, and took his hand. “Of course.” They slow danced to Superman by Five for Fighting. “Brick, you’re surprisingly a good dancer.” He twirled her, and pulled her back to him. “Well I gotta be for my wedding day don’t I?” Blossom rested her head on his shoulder. “I suppose so…” Blossom looked up to Brick. He gazed down to her. They both leaned in to kiss. They shared a tender sweet kiss. Blossom wrapped her arms behind his neck, pulling him down further to deepen the kiss. Brick bent down and wrapped his arms around her body, pulling her up a bit. After the song ended, they pulled apart. They embraced and swayed to the song that played next. After that one ended, they both pulled apart. “This is nice Brick, thanks for bringing me here.” He didn’t respond. “Brick?” Brick put his phone down and dramatically turned to face her. Blossom heard what song came on. It’s gonna be me by N’SYNC. Brick started dancing and pointing at Blossom. She started laughing uncontrollably, he went from being super sweet and romantic to silly within the span of a song. All of a sudden they heard a third voice in the air. “Woohoo! Shake it Bricky! Make our parents proud!” Brick turned and saw Butch laughing from above, and Boomer holding in his laughter. “You two are dead meat!” Brick kissed Blossom and took off after the boys. Blossom figured this kind of thing would happen a lot from now on. She shook her head amused and headed home. Her hour of homework was over anyways.
