Blossom’s eyes shot open and her mouth went into a straight line. (Kind of like this-      (⊙_⊙). ) Her face began to burn and she placed her hands on her cheeks. Her mind started racing. They’ve only been going out for a few weeks! How should she respond? Should she say it back? She doesn’t quite know if she loves him yet, but she knows she really really likes him. She bit her lip and started twiddling her thumbs. “Ah! Y-you do?” She glanced up to see his expression, he looked disappointed- oh no.

When he told Blossom his true feelings, he felt so much better not holding it back anymore. He also saw that her whole face changed. She looked constipated. She started sweating and her face was beet red. She went quiet for a few minutes, and he just watched her stand awkwardly in front of her house. Maybe he shouldn’t have said he loved her yet. She finally said something, just not what he was wanting. “Ah! Y-you do?” He saw her look up to him, he couldn’t help what face he made. Heck, he didn’t even know how it looked, but it made Blossom panic. She started trying to comfort him. He felt down, but he wasn’t trying to make her feel bad for not feeling the same way. “Bloss, calm down. I’m not that upset. If you don’t feel the same, then that’s fine. I mean I’ve waited for this long, right now is good with me if it is with you.” He looked down at his shoes and rubbed the back of his neck.

Blossom watched him as he talked. His stance was awkward. He seemed uncomfortable. Blossom didn’t want him to feel that way with her. This is all her fault isn’t it? No! Brick said she’s okay, it’s okay for her to not be ready to say ‘I love you.’ Brick turned to fly home, but she didn’t want him to leave yet. Just as he was about jump she grabbed his sleeve. “You’re not mad at me? We’re okay right?” Brick gave her a quick hug. “Yeah, we’re alright Bloss, don’t worry.” Brick flew upward and went the direction to his home. Blossoms arm fell down to her side and she went went into her house. Bubbles was sitting on the couch messing with Buttercups hair. ‘Guess both of them don’t have any extra stuff to do today.’ “Hey Blossom! What’s wrong you look down.” Blossom waved to her siblings. “I’m fine girls, really.” Buttercup took her eyes off the T.V.. “Do I need to beat Brick up?” Blossom’s faced reddened. “N-no! It’s just… He told me he loved me…” The two girls sprung up off the couch and were at Blossom’s side immediately. “Woah! What’d you say?” The two girls said in unison. Blossom rubbed her arm, and her gaze fell to the ground. “I told him… ‘Ah, You do?’..” The two girls went back to the couch. Buttercup winced as she walked back, and Bubbles placed a hand over her mouth. Blossom started to worry. “W-why are you acting like that?” The blonde and dark haired girl looked at one another. Bubbles started to speak, “Well… Bloss, how do I say it-” Buttercup chimed in, “You broke that poor boys heart Blossy.” Bubbles punched Buttercups arm. “You dingus, I was trying to be gentle!” Buttercup rubbed the spot Bubbles punched her. “Oh, sorry.” Blossom’s eyes started to water. “Does he hate me now? Is he going to avoid me? He said we were okay, that he’s happy with what we have now. Was he lying?” Bubbles ran to comfort her sister. Buttercup couldn’t stand this mushy stuff, like tears. She also didn’t like seeing her sister cry.  “Oh my god Blossom! Of course he said it’s ‘okay.’ That dummy said he loves you, why on Earth would he stop seeing you, just because you don’t know how you feel yet? He doesn’t want you to freak out like this.” Buttercup crossed her arms and flopped on the couch. Blossom wiped the tears from her eyes and nodded. She went up the stairs to sort out her thinking. Bubbles watched her go up the stairs. She knew that’s what she needed to hear, but it could have been phrased more gently in her opinion.

Brick was in his room, blaring the stereo he had. He needed to drown his thoughts out with The Weeknd. He should have chosen a different artist because “call out my name” came on. The lyrics that came on next made him have anxiety. “Call out my name. Call out my name when I kiss you so gently. I want you to stay. I want you to stay even though you don’t want me. Girl why can’t you wait? Girl why can’t you wait ‘til I fall out of love?” Brick felt terrible. He put himself out there and she didn’t know how to respond. Maybe he shouldn’t talk to her for a few days. No Way! He couldn’t do that to her, and he couldn’t do that to himself. If he couldn’t see her, it’d make him feel worse. He’d just act like normal. He wants to be there for her, even if it hurts him a bit. He shut off the stereo and skulked out of his room. Boomer ran up to him. “Uh, hey Brick, um… Bubbles texted me about what happened with you and Blossom. Bubbles told me not to tell you, but Blossom was really upset that she hurt your feelings. She told me that after Buttercup “talked” to her, she went up to her room and hasn’t been out since.” Brick groaned and rubbed his face really hard. “Why do feelings suck ass?” Brick put his back to the wall and slid down it. Boomer placed a hand on his brothers shoulder. “Maybe you should talk to her bro.” Boomer gave a reassuring smile and went to the kitchen. Brick pulled out his phone and sent a text. “Hey, are you okay?” He went back into his room. He sat on his bed with his head in his hands. He heard a ding and checked her response. “I’m fine, but I would like to be left alone for a bit, Okay?” Tears pricked at his eyes, he hadn’t cried since he was 6 years old. “Alright.” He tossed his phone on his dresser and clenched his fists. He punched his pillow, and feathers bursted out of it. He turned his stereo back on. No one was going to hear him cry. Especially his brothers.

Blossom wanted to talk to Brick, she was glad he messaged her, but knew she had to think things through. She didn’t want anyone to affect her thinking. She pulled her knees up to her chest and closed her eyes. Does she love Brick? She hadn’t given him a proper response yet. Why does she like Brick? Hmm… He was nice to her, he does whatever he can to make her happy, he makes her laugh, he was cute, he… He had blood red eyes that drew her in. She liked that they swirled with emotion. He always made a small ‘hup’ sound whenever he jumped from the ground. He pouted while he drew, because it didn’t look how he wanted it to. He had a smile that made her heart melt. Not his fake one, but the real one that makes him look like a dork. Oh! And when he smiled he had one dimple on his left cheek. She thought that was really cute. He also tries really hard in everything he does, even though he won’t admit it. He… Blossom felt a single tear fall on her knee. “I do love him… Why didn’t I say it back today? I have to tell him!” She reached for her phone, but hesitated. She shook her head. “I’m gonna tell him tomorrow! This is something I should say in person.” Blossom was too excited to eat dinner, so she went to bed early. She wanted to tell Brick how much she loves him. It’s never too soon if you’re with the right person.

Blossom was awake far before her alarm sounded. She flung the covers off and did her morning routine. She picked out a super cute pink overall dress with stockings, long sleeve shirt, and black flats. She tied her hair back with her red bow, and raced out the door. It was seven, if she got there soon she’d beat Brick there and tell him her feelings as soon she saw him. She got to the school and stood outside the front doors waiting for Brick. 7:15AM she beat him there! Now to wait. She took a deep breath and waited.

Brick rolled out of the bed, and the clock read 7:30. “SHIT I’M GONNA BE LATE. He supersonic did everything he normally did and was out of the apartment by 7:40. He raced to the school and was there by 7:50. He ran through the gates. He saw Blossom waiting by the door. God she looked super cute. He clutched his hand over his heart, and slowly started walking towards her.

It was 7:50 where was he? Blossom started to think he wasn’t coming today, but she wasn’t leaving that spot ‘til she absolutely had to. She worriedly gazed at the gates, there he is! She saw him look at her and he blushed and put his hand over his heart. He looked so hurt. Blossom couldn’t hold back anymore. She ran at him. “Brick!” She saw him look up. She ran faster and tackled him. He let out an ‘oof’ sound. She buried her head in his chest. “I love you too.”

Brick couldn’t understand what she just said. “What’d you say? It was all muffled in my shirt.” Blossom pulled her face away from him, her face was all red. “Brick I love you too!” She shouted this time. He was caught off guard. “B-but yesterday-” She covered his mouth. “I really feel this way. No one made me change my mind or anything. I’ve always felt this way, I just didn’t know it!” She took her hands off of his mouth. He started tearing up. She smiled and pulled his face towards hers. She gave him a nice good smooch on the lips. Brick hugged her tight and started laughing. “You really had me worried Bloss.” She squeezed him back. “I love you so much Brick.” “I love you more Blossom.” They stayed in that embrace until the first warning bell rang. Blossom let go. “We’ll be late! Let’s hurry to class Brick!” Brick followed behind her. His worried thoughts drifting away from his mind each second he was with Blossom.
