Chapter four

Blossom woke the next morning to find an intoxicating aroma fill the air. She knew Bubbles had made her famous fluffy flapjacks. She groggily sat up and glanced at her phone. It was dead. She plugged her phone into her charger, then went downstairs. Glancing at the clock she saw it was 7 in the morning, and Bubbles was already energized for the day. The blonde turned around and placed a pile of pancakes on the table. “Morning Bloss! Oh wow, you look awful.” Blossom peered down at her body and saw she was still in her clothing from the day before. “Do I really look that bad?” Bubbles pulled out a pocket mirror from her bag that lied on one of the kitchen chairs. She opened it, then put it up to Blossom’s face. Blossom’s hair was a mess, and her makeup was smudged all over her face. “Were you that tired from yesterday?” “Um... I guess so.” Bubbles looked worried. “Hey, why don’t you rest for the day since it’s the weekend?” Blossom nodded, then went upstairs to take a shower.

After her refreshing shower, she felt ready for the day. She had thrown on a pink hoodie and white skinny jeans, and put her hair up in a messy bun. No makeup though, she didn’t feel like impressing anyone today. She had eaten breakfast, grabbed her charged phone, and left the house. Blossom felt like going to the park today, since it was nice outside, and the breeze felt great on her face. She decided to fly. A bright hot pink trail was zooming after her. She did a few dips and twirls, then used a short burst of energy to go faster. She had reached the Townsville park, and sunk under a cherry blossom tree.

Brick woke up exhausted, he never thought Blossom would have this effect on him. He had left his phone on all night plugged in by his bed just in case she texted, or even called him. He felt ridiculous. Isn’t this what a girl’s supposed to do? He unlocked his phone, it was 8 o’clock. He reluctantly got up and showered. He had put on his least favorite cologne, everyone didn’t really like the way it smelt. He didn’t want people to approach him today, and it kept them away. He had  then went to the fridge for breakfast. He skimmed over what looked decent, and decided on just a green apple. His brothers didn’t wake up till twelve on the weekends, so he knew he’d be able to leave undetected. He decided to go to the park as well today, except he didn’t know Blossom was there too. He didn’t feel like flying, he was too tired. After about ten minutes of walking, he had made it to his destination. He thought the air smelt nice, like the perfume Blossom would wear. Don’t get him wrong, he doesn’t sniff her while she’s clueless, it’ll be in the air if she walks by him. He had walked down the small trail to a bench near the cherry blossom tree, and sat down.

Blossom felt comfortable under the pastel pink tree. She let her eyes drift around the park, taking in the scenery. Her eyes shot wide open at seeing Brick. She noticed he was slumped down on a bench, oblivious to her being there. Her heart began to race, she still didn’t know if she should accept his query. She picked up her phone and stared at his contact information, contemplating on sending him a message. Her cheeks flushed as she sent a message “I can see you.” After sending that, she face palmed. That sounded creepier than she intended. She watched as he picked his phone out of his pocket and read the message. He looked around and made eye contact with Blossom. He got up and started walking over to her. Oh no. What should she do? What should she say? She waved at him shyly. He sat down beside her, and leaned back on the tree.  “Hey.” He said. “H-hi… How are you today?” Brick chuckled, “Ah, I’m exhausted, and you?” “I’m doing okay.” She smiled. “Have you thought about my question any?” She was not ready at all to answer yet. “A-about that-” He interrupted her, “It’s okay, one day isn’t enough to think it over.” She felt calmer now. “But I would like an answer by the end of tomorrow, okay?” She nodded, then clenched her fists into her lap. He saw out of the corner of his eye that she was feeling conflicted. Brick reached out and grasped her hand. She tensed up. “Shh… Let’s just enjoy the weather Pinky…” Brick closed his eyes, as he felt Blossom’s hand unclench.

He was calm on the outside, but was full of energy on the inside. He hadn’t known how long it had been since they had been sitting, but he felt her head land on his shoulder. He peeked at her, and she was fast asleep. He closed his eyes once more, as he waited for her to wake up. His arm had started to hurt from staying in one position for a prolonged amount of time. Brick took out his phone and the clock said it had been and hour. He shifted his weight, and she began to stir. Blossom had snuggled closer to him, and mumbled, “nice smell…” Her eyes fluttered open, and she looked up to see Brick’s smirking face. “S-sorry!” She flung herself off of him. He began to laugh, “So, you think I smell nice?” “Wh-what?” He was enjoying this. He couldn’t help himself, her bashful form was just too cute. “I said no such thing! Right..?” Brick tilted his head to the right, and poked her cheek. “Yeah, you said I smell nice, and in a really cute way.” Blossom squinted her eyes and puffed out her flushed cheeks. “Probably not.” Brick chuckled, “whatever you say Bloss.” They sat quietly in a comfortable silence for a while until Blossom spoke up. “Is this how it’s like?” Brick peered over to her. “How is what like?” She pulled her knees up to her chest, “A relationship. Is this how it feels like to be around a partner?” Brick pondered for a bit. “I suppose so…” Blossom turned her head to him. “You do not know? I thought you’ve had many girlfriends?” His eyes softened, “ I was never serious about them, I just used them, as bad as it sounds, to get closer to you.” “Well you failed at that.” He flinched inwardly. “I guess I did huh?” He decided to confess more. “I’ve actually liked you for a while, since we were kids. Every time I would try to make an attempt at flirting, it always came out wrong. For some stupid reason, I thought you seeing me with other girls would make you jealous, and you’d come running into my arms.” Brick sighed. Blossom flushed a deeper red. “That’s not how you will get my affection. All us girls want is to know that you care. It doesn’t have to be fancy, like flowers, candy, and expensive material things. I’d probably love it if you just sat by me and we did homework together.” Blossom smiled, “Yeah, that’d be nice…” Brick smiles as well. “Well, that’s good to know for the future Blossom. We can do that together if you like.” Blossom stammered “y-yeah haha, I guess.” “So Bloss, I’ll ask again since the timing seems right. Will you be my girlfriend?” Blossom thought for a while. She decided to finally take a chance once in her life, instead of staying on the safe side. “Yes, Brick..”
