Chapter 8

(The sword Gandalf 'gives' you is the one in the picture)

___________ ___ __ _

Bilbo and you were standing outside the troll hole, while the others messed around down there.

It was quiet... As you can see I said quiet, not silent... Because the dwarves were making a ruckus down in the hole.

It wasn't awkward, or uncomfortable, but rather... Calming, you could say. It's seem to be the first time you could slightly relax after being held captive.

Bilbo turned his head towards you and opened his mouth, but then closed it. He twitched his nose.

You couldn't stop the smile that creeped onto your face, which he noticed. "(Y/n), what are you smiling about?"

The smile grew into a grin. "I just find it adorable how your nose always twitches when you're frustrated or embarrassed."

A blush rose on his face. "My nose does not twitch." You found it quite funny how he denied his nose twitching, but failed to mention that he was not adorable.

A few seconds past.... His nose twitched again.

You looked down at him, trying to hold in your laughter. "You just did it again! You know, you remind me of a bunny."

His blushed darkened slightly. He turned his head away from you before muttering. "I do not look like a bunny."

You opened your mouth to say more, but stopped when the dwarves started to pour out of the cave. Your smile turned into a frown as Thorin came out. He glared at you before carrying on his way.

Gandalf was the last one to emerge from the cave. He held three swords. "Bilbo,
(Y/n)!"

Both of you turned to face him. He held out a sword to Bilbo. "Here, this is about your size."

Instead of taking the sword, he just looked up at Gandalf with an are-you-serious look. A few moments later he took the sword.

He shook his head. "I can't take this."

Gandalf leaned down slightly. "The blade is an elvish-make, which means it will glow blue when Orcs or Goblins are nearby."

Bilbo opened his mouth. "I..." He looked around to make sure no one was listening, before speaking in a low tone. "I've never used a sword in my life."

"And I hope you never have to, and if you do, remember this. True courage, is about knowing not went to take a life,...but when to spare one." A small smile crossed his wise old face.

Bilbo looked at him, his mouth slightly open, then look down at the sword.

Gandalf turned his attention toward you. "I cannot tell you much about this sword, but know that it is very old... Most likely before my time. I will keep it until you can wield it properly."

You nodded. But as soon as you looked at the sword, a sudden pain stabbed at your skull. You grabbed your head before hissing in pain. A sudden desire to hold the sword came over you, like it was trying to reach you, the throbbing pain became worse, you couldn't hear anything other then the drumming of your head.

You sank to your knees, still trying to hold your head.

Seeing you fall, Bilbo started to panic, he tried to call out to you, but it seemed like you couldn't hear him, not knowing what to do, he yelled Gandalf's name.

Gandalf was crouching before you in an instant as soon as he seen you in a fetal position.

"Gandalf, what's wrong with her?" Bilbo asked, still not knowing what to do.

"I...I'm not sure, it is most peculiar." Gandalf looked over your body, not even he knew what was wrong with you.

"Something's coming!" Thorin yelled. He looked over to Gandalf, but was taken aback by your form that was lying on the ground, you seemed to be shaking with pain.

He felt a sudden desire to run over to you, to try and help you. He shook himself, what was he thinking?

Gandalf reluctantly ran off to see what was coming.

Bilbo called after him, trying to get him to come back, but it didn't work.

The pounding started to decrease, until it was completely gone... almost as if it never happened.

You let out a few shaky breaths. You could feel a hand rubbing your shoulder, but it stopped as soon as you tried to stand. Key word 'tried'.

Bilbo stood up, 'helping' you stand up. You couldn't exactly use him as a leaning post, he'd probably collapse under your weight.

"(Y/n), what just happened to you?" Bilbo questioned.

You shook your head, not knowing yourself. "I-I'm not sure what that was, It's never happened to me before."

When you finally made to the others, you could see a man dressed in all brown.

He was making gestures and waving his arms around, trying to explain something. But then he turned his head towards you, as soon as you seen the bird shit on the side of his head, it finally clicked, it was Radagast the Brown.
