Chapter 13

You woke early the next morning. Sleep had been difficult to come by the night before. You have been here so many times before... And each time, you had defeated a great evil... And yet... You couldn't remember a single time.

As you were in your trail thoughts, you failed to notice Thorin walking up to you. Seeing that you were awake he approached. "So, your name is (Y/n)?"

You snapped out of your thoughts and looked up at him with dark ringed eyes. You hesitated, not knowing what to say, your mind was still out of it, so you slowly nodded at him, since you didn't trust your brain enough right now to speak for you. You were in no mood to fight with him.

"What did the elves want with you?" He pressed on, his eyebrow raised slightly.

You shook your head. "Nothing important, just simply wanted to know why a group of dwarves, hobbit, and a human were traveling together."

His eyes narrowed slightly. "And what did you tell them?"

You met his glare with a tired look. "I told them nothing, just that we all just so happen to be going the same direction, and thought it would be a good idea to stick together until everyone reaches where they were going." You shrugged.

He searched your expression, looking for something... Something that wasn't there. He eventually nodded and untied your ropes from the pillar and dragged you with him to wake the others.

As the group head through the mountains, you kept an eye Bilbo, hoping he wouldn't fall off the path to his doom. The wind picked up, causing the rain to fall faster and hit harder.

That happened, he lost his footing on the small path was about to fall, but Dwalin grabbed him before he could.

"We must find shelter!" Thorin yelled over the rain.

But then, out of nowhere, a boulder came flying towards the mountain that the company was currently on.

You had forgotten all about this part, you finally figured out what was happening... this is going to be a pain in your-

"This is no thunderstorm, it's a Thunder Battle!" Balin yelled.

"Giants, stone giants!" Bofur continued Balin's comment.

The mountain you were on began to shake. As the giant you tried to hold onto got hit, the ledge began to move closer to the safer side. The force of impact was almost enough to make you go flying!

Everyone who was there, quickly scrambled off just in time. The ledge crumbled into the depths below.

Now you watched as the others were slammed into the side of the mountain as the giant fell. Thorin yelled as he ran to go find his nephews. You're stumbling after him, trying not to trip.

When you rounded the corner, you were met with a pile of the dwarves. Your rope laid forgotten on the ground, so you quickly ran to the ledge and saw Bilbo hanging, his terrified face looking straight at you. "Hold on Bilbo!" You yelled. You slung your rope over the edge for him. "Grab on!"

He grab the rope, and you began to pull him up. Dwalin pulled him up over and onto the path. "I thought we lost our burglar!" Dwalin sighed in relief.

"He's been lost ever since he left home." Thorin replied. "He should never have come. He has no place amongst us."

You watched Thorin walk away into the cave, before walking over to Bilbo. "Hey... he didn't mean that, he was just-"

He just lowered his head and walked to the cave. Leaving you in the rain by yourself.

You could feel the pity rising in your heart, but it will get better for Bilbo, if only he knew.
