Slash!

The stick swung and struck the Froggit!  But it wasn't enough to take him out! Apparently real monsters are a lot tougher than dummies. It was the Froggit's turn to attack.

Before the opposing Froggit could attack, Toriel entered the fight! She had a sharp glare on her face as she stared down at the Froggit. She seemed to scold it with her eyes somehow? Toriel can be pretty scary of she wants to be apparently.

The Froggit lowered its head and stared down at the floor is it slowly slid away into the shadows where it came. Sam's soul returned once more as the fight was over. Sam was beginning to get used to this. Apparently their soul is like an entire body part or something. Like a shield.

Sam continued to follow behind Toriel. Past a sign on the wall which reads; "The Western room is the Eastern rooms blueprint."

Whatever that means. A few steps forward and Sam could spot the Eastern part of the room. An entire floor of spikes! Are some of the spikes fake or something? Toriel blocked the way onto the spikes with a look of worry on her face.

"This is the puzzle, but..." Toriel says slowly. "Come take my hand for a moment".

Sam didn't really have a choice here. So they took Toriel's hand and followed as she began to step toward the spikes. Every spike she was about to step on, sunk into the ground! Toriel led Sam by the hand as they twisted and navigated the entire floor of spikes. Tricky puzzle indeed, it would of took Sam a while to figure out this one.

"Puzzles seem a little too dangerous for now" Toriel says as she walks off into the next room.

This next room, was huge! A more accurate description of it would be long. This room seemed to be some type of super long hallway. The hallway seemed to be empty. No obvious puzzles where hanging about.

"You have done excellently thus far, my child..." Toriel says slowly. But then her face changes to a more, serious expression. "However, I have a difficult request to ask of you."

There was a moment of silence. Sam was clearly thinking "what would this goat lady clearly want with me?" Sam looks up and their eyes meet as Toriel continues the conversation.

"I would like you to walk to the end of the room by yourself. Forgive me for this."

Toriel then speeds off toward the other end of the room, and vanishes. The room is so long, that the other end is pitch black. So Sam did not really know where Toriel has vanished to. Most of the Underground seems to be dark actually. Since technically it's... underground. There are torches and lights so it's not pitch black. Just... darker than the surface.

Sam was now on their own. Toriel abandoned them it seems. Or maybe she is waiting at the end of the hall? Then why make Sam walk down the room alone? This has "Trap" written all over it. But, there is no other option than to move forward.

Hesitant at first, Sam began to walk down the hallway. Slowly... then a little bit faster. Five whole minutes have gone by with nothing but Vines on the wall and no traps at all. Was this room some kind of endless loop? A few more steps and Sam spotted a White Pillar at the end of the hall. They ran toward the pillar, since it was the only different thing in the room.

"Greetings, my child." Toriel says as she comes out from behind the pillar. "Do not worry, i did not leave you. I was merely behind this pillar the whole time. There was an important reason for this exercise... to test your independance. I must attend to some business, and you must stay alone for a while. Please remain here. It's dangerous to explore by yourself."

Toriel then gives Sam a cell phone. Telling them to call if they needed anything. With that, she leaves the room. Sam is truly alone now. In a dark long hallway, with only a white pillar as company. What kind of independance test was this? Walking down a scary hallway seemed a little bit much, doesn't it? Maybe this goat lady wasn't all she seems to be. Sam decides to disobey her order and leave the room in search of her. Only to have their phone ring once they leave the hallway.

"Hello, this is Toriel. You have not left the room, have you? There are a few puzzles ahead that I have yet to explain. It would be dangerous to try to solve them yourself. Be good, alright?"

Sam did not want to be good. They had a feeling that they should leave the Underground as soon as possible. Putting the phone away, they took a glance around this new room.

It was a big rectangle. Patches of red leaves where on the floor. One patch had one of those shiny save points from the beginning of the ruins. Sam decided that saving is probably the most important thing to do down here. They don't know why exactly. But they have a feeling it's important.

So they moved to the save point and touched it gently. Their feet crinkled a few leaves on the floor as their soul was filled with determination. They saved once more and looked around the room again. There seems to be two different pathways. One leading up, and one leading to the right.

Sam decided to take the one leading up, since it seems like a good choice. But instead of a great new room. It only led into a dead end. This dead end room was a perfect square. Two streams of water on both sides, and a pedestal in the middle.

Looking more closely at the pedestal, Sam noticed it had a sign. The sign read; "Monster Candy, take one." So, Sam decided to reach up and take a piece. But after taking one, it seemed a little strange. Why is there a whole bowl of candy, if nobody was going to eat them? So Sam decided to take another, more candy doesn't hurt. There's plenty to go around it seems.

After taking four pieces of monster candy in total, the entire bowl fell of the pedestal and broke! The candy scattered around the floor. Hopefully nobody heard the bowl break! Sam quickly dashes out the room and toward the other exit leading toward the right.

Sam kept running, not noticing the broken panels on the floor of this new small room they've entered. With a large cracking noise, the tile broke! Sam was falling, again. But the drop was a short one, and Sam landed safely on another patch of red leaves.

What is with this place and puzzles? Luckily, there are stairs that lead back up past the cracked tiles. Sam shook their head and continued onwards into the next room. But before they could take a good look around the room, Toriel called once more.

"Hello, this is Toriel. For no reason in particular... which do you prefer? Cinnamon, or butter Scotch?"

What a strange question coming from a strange lady. Maybe she's making a poisonous cake! This place does seem pretty creepy. For all Sam knows, the monsters down here could be cannibals! But, for the sake of continuing the conversation, Sam answers with Cinnamon.

Toriel thanks Sam and quickly hangs up the phone. Only to call back a few seconds later. How annoying is that?

"Hello, this is Toriel. You do not DISLIKE butterscotch do you? I know what your preference is, but... would you turn up your nose if you found it on your plate?"

Sam tells Toriel that they don't care. They like both cinnamon and butterscotch. Toriel says she understands, and hangs up the phone again. Sam waits a few more seconds, just to see if she will call back. But she doesn't. So Sam decides to finally look up and around this new huge room.
