Chapter 22: Megalovania

Sam's eyes fill with rage as their vision turns red with bloodlust. They begin to lose control of their body as they approach Sans.

"Lets just get to the point."

Moving quickly they do their best to dodge most of Sans's opening attack and proceed to run close and knife him. Sans dodges as expected and begins to speak throughout the fight.

"Our reports showed a massive anomaly in the time space continuum. Timeliness jumping left and right, stopping and starting..."

Sam jumps and dodges bones moving towards them at a quick rate. Some bones are light blue, Sam doesn't take damage if they don't move as those go through them.

"Until suddenly, everything ends."

Bones approach left and right. Sam is forced to jump to dodge. They are moving quickly and the battle progresses.

"Heh heh heh heh... that's your fault, isn't it?"

A sea of bone attacks appear before Sam. They are forced to jump on moving platforms to not fall in. Slightly tricky, but they pass with flying colors. Literally, they jumped pretty high it looked like they're flying. The voice in their head seems to be taking control.

"Faster, faster!"

"You can't understand how this feels. Knowing that one day without warning... it's all going to be reset."

Sans attacks faster but Sam keeps up with the pace. Endless cycle of bones and knifing and dodging. Sam is getting slightly faster.

"Look. I gave up trying to go back a long time ago. Getting to the surface doesn't really appeal anymore either. Because even if we do... we'll end up right back here with no memory of it. Right?"

Sans summons gaster blasters and begins to combine them with moving platforms. Sam is forced to jump and cover to escape every blast of light. Sam feels their sins crawling down their back.

"To be blunt... it makes it hard for me to give it my all. Or is that just a poor excuse for being lazy? Hell if I know." Sans winks as he sends a tricky wave of bones toward Sam.

Sam has little to no trouble maneuvering the bones and slashing the air towards Sans. Sans side steps with amazing speed and dodges the attack.

"All I know is... seeing what comes next... I can't afford not to care anymore."

Sans dodges more knife strikes, and begin to spare Sam like last time. Sam takes this opportunity to eat food from their pocket such as the butterscotch-cinnamon pie. Then they leap out to slash Sans.

Sans dodges of course. Since he wasn't really sparing them anyways. It was all a trap.

"Welp, it was worth a shot. Guess you like doing things the hard way, huh?"

Sam's vision flashes and Sans sends a mass of short attacks. They are each different, easy to dodge but they are pretty quick. Sam has to act fast to not die.

"Sounds strange, but before all this I was secretly hoping we could be friends. I always thought the anomaly was doing this cause they were unhappy, and when they got what they wanted, they would stop all this."

Sam's soul turns read and they are free to move around the battle zone. One by one gaster blasters appear and send a death beam toward them. The attacks are getting faster. The REAL battle finally begins.

"Maybe all they needed was, I dunno. Some good food, some bad friends, some nice laughs."

Sam's vision gets even more blurry as Sans's attacks get more elaborate. Dodging gets a lot tricky but they manage to do it anyway. Determination can take you far.
