A FIGHT begins. The floating boxes inform Sam their opponent is a "Napstablook" what a dumb name. Pushing the fight button, Sam swings their stick at Napstablook. It does some damage, as Napstablook looks hurt. But the ghost is not dead yet.

Sam gets dragged into the battle zone as Napstablook's tears flood the field. What is this ghost doing? Trying to CRY them to death? But once the tears enter contact with Sam, they hurt as much as the other monster attacks! How clever, deadly tears.

Sam makes an effort to Dodge the tears. Barely hitting any, they get to fight back once more. The fight went back and forth this way. Until Napstablook's Health hit zero.

A grin emerges on Sam's face in success. But it quickly goes away as they notice Napstablook isn't dead. Why isn't this ghost dead yet?

"Umm... you do know you can't kill ghosts, right? We're sorta incorporeal and all. I was just lowering my health because I didn't want to be rude.... sorry. I just made this more awkward... pretend you beat me."

When all that was said, Napstablook vanished. The battle was over. What a waste of time! Sam made a mental note just in case they run into any more ghosts. Ghosts can't die.

They walked straight into one of the next rooms. But it turned out to be a dead end. The only thing in this small area were some cob webs and a sign. The sign reads; Spider Bake Sale, all proceeds go to real spiders!

A spider, shop. How stupid. Sam left the room without buying anything. Instead, they took the up route that led deeper into the ruins. This new room was another hallway. This hallway had a few Froggits, and another sign. This new sign was much like the old one. It read; 'Did you miss it? Spider bake sale down and to the right! Come eat food made by spiders, for spiders, of spiders!'

That... kinda sounds like spider cannibalism. But Sam ignored it and kept walking. They ignored the Froggits and instead ended up in another fight. This one was with a new monster, a Migosp.

A Migosp is a mutant cockroach. Harmless it seems. Sam attacked it and prepared themselves for a counter attack. But all the dumb Migosp did was dance by itself. Does this monster have a death wish?

Sam struck it down. It dissolved into familiar monster dust and gold falls upon the floor. Sam's LOVE increased once more. Sam is really getting tired of these silly monster encounters.

Right before they got to leave the room. Sam's phone began to ring. It was Toriel calling once more.

"Hello, this is Toriel. I just realized that it has been a while since I have cleaned up. I was not expecting to have company so soon. There are probably a lot of things lying about here and there. You can pick them up, but do not carry more than you need. Someday you might see something you really like. You will want to leave room in your pockets for that."

She's cleaning? Thats why she's taking so long? Fine, Sam turned around and paced back and forth in the room. If Toriel wants to clean up. Sam will too. A nagging feeling in the back of their head tells them to clear the Ruins of all its monsters. So Sam sits in the hall, and waits.

It doesn't take long for monsters to come. Froggits, Whimsuns, Moldsmals, Migosps. There was even a new monster called a Loox. It was some stupid grunt thing with a giant eyeball. Like a mini Cyclops. Another new monster was a Vegetoid. It was some kind of mutant carrot thing.

One after the other Sam fought them and struck them down. Death after death. Battle after battle took it's toll of course. Sam had to eat some monster candy to recover some health. But eventually, the Ruins went silent.

No monster was left, even the Froggits in the room left. The only one left in the underground was Sam... and Toriel. Toriel counts as a monster they have to kill... right? Maybe if Toriel will let them leave, they will spare her. Toriel has been nice so far anyways, maybe she isn't like the other ones down here.

Sam moved onto the next room. It was a puzzle. They nearly forgot about the puzzles while killing all the monsters in the Ruins. The puzzle was simple. Find the switch in a hole, flip the switch, proceed. Honestly, whoever invented these puzzles could make them a bit more challenging.

Sam continued onto the next room. Sigh, another puzzle. But with another look, they realized this one was different. There are multiple pillars and colored switches. There is a sign on the wall with the usual hint. The sign reads; "The far door is not an exit. It simply marks a rotation in perspective."

What a weird clue to a even weirder puzzle. Sam decided to walk to the far door anyways and go through it. How can a door mark a rotation in perspective. An entire room can't rotate, can it? After entering the next room, Sam was proven wrong. This next room looked like the entire last room rotated! Only, there was spikes blocking the way forward this time. There was also a new sign, that says press the blue switch.

It took a while, but Sam found the blue switch hiding behind a pillar. The pushed the switch and the spikes went away. Easy puzzle, all you have to do is find a switch and push it. Sam went to the next room. The next room looked like the previous two, only rotated again. Of course, there are spikes blocking the way again, and a new sign. Press the red switch, the new sign says.

The red switch wasn't even hidden this time. It was in plain sight! Whoever made these puzzles must of gotten lazy. Sam pushed the switch and the spikes went away again. Sam walked into the next room thinking the silly puzzle was over. But no, the next room was JUST LIKE the last three!

This last room told them to press the green switch. The green switch was behind a pillar. Sam found it, and pushed it. The spikes blocking the path vanished and the way was open. Sam walked into the next room expecting another boring version of the previous puzzle. But instead was a large room.

The room has two paths, one led upwards. The other one went right. Sam trusted his gut and went on the right path. But, apparently Sam's gut sucks because it ended up being a dead end. But a marvelous dead end this was! There was a giant painting of a castle on the wall.

Below the painting, was a knife! Sam ran over and picked it up. With a slight frown, they realized it was only a toy. But it seems better than the stick they are currently using to fend off monsters. So Sam decided to use the toy knife from now on.

Sam backtracks to the large room, and this time they take the upwards path. The up path leads to a large room. There was a huge dead tree blocking the way, so Sam didn't see what was at the end of the room at first. But as they began to go around the tree, they heard a familiar voice.

"Oh dear, that took longer than I thought it would."

It was Toriel! Toriel walked toward the tree and began to call Sam on the phone. But since they are now in the same room, Sam's phone rang loudly and Toriel noticed their presence.

"How did you get here, my child? Are you hurt? I should not have left you alone for so long. It was irresponsible to try to surprise you like this. Well, i suppose i cannot hide it any longer. Come small one!"

Toriel then leaves off and into a little building at the end of the Ruins. Sam follows after, but notices another save point in front first. When they interacted with the save point, energy flows through them as usual. They feel four times stronger than they originally were when they fell into the Ruins.

A box appears with a word. Determination. Sam feels determined, this is it. The way out of the Ruins must be close. With that in mind, they enter the little building after Toriel.
