I couldn't believe this. Every part of me wanted to reject what's happening.
I can't explain the anger that burned so brightly when Κύριος said he wants Claire for his wife. I wanted to run my sword through him right then and there. I wanted to watch the ichor drip from his wounds and then burn him alive.
The moment Κύριος said those four words, Alítheia and Psychí let out a giant shriek and took flight. To my surprise, the bird started to glow and it split itself into two different birds. One had horns and icy blue eyes. The second one looked like a normal eagle with soft green eye. The only thing abnormal about it was it's golden talons. I knew at once that the fight with Alítheia and Psychí would be harder.
Immediately, Alítheia dive bombed me. I jumped out of the way, her Imperial gold talons barely missing my shoulder. I used my sword to slice at it's wing, but it dodged my dark blade.
I heard a yell and turned to see Psychí trying to clamp it's beak down on Marry's shoulder. Sam was desperately trying to stop it before it's dangerous beak bit down. Alítheia, seeing that I was distracted, grabbed me by my shoulders and lifted me into the air.
"Nico!" I looked down to see Claire staring up with wide, fearful eyes. I tried to struggle out of Alítheia's grip, but her talons were digging into my flesh. I cried out in pain as I felt blood starting to flow.
The overhang that we were under was roughly fifteen feet tall, so when a giant demon bird is flying around the top of it with you in it's clutches, it's not a pleasant fall. I managed to wriggle out of it's golden grip and I realized my mistake. With a single yell of surprise, I dropped like a stone.
Alítheia dived and grabbed my ankle. I jerked to a stop, a few feet from the ground. I let out a breath of relief before Alítheia started to fly up. I was trying to use my sword to slice off her foot, but suddenly Alítheia let out a surprised caw and released me.
I landed on my back with a "Oof" and I quickly scrambled to my feet to see Claire riding on Alítheia's back. I watched in horror as Alítheia jerked and flew in circles, trying to buck Claire off her back. Claire had one hand on either wing and was moving them like she was steering Alítheia. It seemed to me working, until...
"Claire!" I shouted. "Look out!"
Claire looked up at see one of the support beams right in front of her. Alítheia and Claire slammed right into the beam with a sickening crunch. Alítheia let out a single, pitiful "Awck." before falling and landed with a dull thud.
"Claire!" I started to run towards her, but a scream made me whirl around. Marry was vainly shooting bullets at Psychí, trying to get it away. It snapped at her, getting closer and closer. So, I did the first thing that came to mind. I threw my sword across the room at Psychí. We all froze, time seemed to slow down as we all watched the blade slice through the air.
"NO!" Κύριος howled as my sword struck home, right in Psychí's chest. "My beautiful pet!" Psychí let out a gurgled cry before it burst into golden dust. I was panting, so was Marry. She had come so close to dying.
All four of us turned to look at Alítheia and Claire's unmoving figures. Κύριος seemed close to tears.
"Get up!" Κύριος cried. "Get up and kill them!" But she didn't move, she seemed to be unconscious. That just added to my fear, Alítheia was crushing Claire!
I sprinted towards them, Marry and Sam hard on my heels. I didn't even stop to grab my sword, I had a dagger in my belt. Maybe it wouldn't do any good since it was silver... but I had to make sure Claire was alright.
