I couldn't believe I was this lucky.
I was going on my very first quest with the cutest girl I've ever met. Here she was, sitting by me and laughing. Her laugh was amazing, I felt like I had just drank two mugs of hot cocoa. If only Nico wasn't here, it felt like he was that one parent that keeps texting you during your date and wont leave you alone.
When the sing along was over and we were all walking back to our cabins, we stopped at Nico's first and I was glad when he was gone. He seemed like he was a little reluctant to leave, probably was worried I'd make a move on Claire. I would, if I plucked up enough courage. Something about Claire made him sure that she was oblivious that I had feelings for her, even though Marry pointed it out a long time ago. Apparently Claire hadn't believed her.
I walked up to the Poseidon cabin and nervously stood there. She turned back before stepping into her cabin.
"That was fun, I should have gone more often." A sad look passed over her face.
"What's wrong?" I asked. She shrugged. I had noticed how she seemed to shrug and nod a lot, she wasn't a very verbal person.
"I was just thinking about how one of us could not make it back from the quest." I frowned.
"Don't think about that, we'll all make it back safely." Claire bit her lip before nodded.
I inhaled once and leaned in. I kissed her cheek and turned away. "Good night." I glanced over my shoulder once to see her standing there with one hand on her cheek, her mouth hanging open. I laughed quietly and walked into the Hermes cabin, I sighed happily and sat down on my bed. Conner appeared by me.
"Aww, did Sam get some alone time with his little crush?" he said mockingly, wiggling his eyebrows. I rolled my eyes.
"Shut up, Conner." I said and used my foot to nudged him away. Travis popped up besides his twin.
"Did you make out?" he asked. I groaned and rolled over. They wouldn't leave me alone after I made the mistake of admitting I had feelings for Claire. Conner poked me.
"Did you?" he prompted.
"No!" I said angrily, throwing my pillow at his head. He stumbled back and then chucked it at Travis. Uh-oh, I thought, what have I done? I think I just started a war. They both turned on me and whacked me in the head with their pillows. I jumped to my feet and an all-out pillow fight broke out. Marry walked in and a stray pillow slammed into her face. She stood there frozen and us three quickly hid our fluffy weapons behind our backs.
"You asked for it." she said and started chasing us around with a pillow. Soon, the whole cabin was filled with exhausted and panting campers, pillows and their innards laying in between limp bodies. I stood and brushed feathers from my hair.
"Well, that happened." I said. Conner jumped up, laughing at everyone's expense. Who knew pillow fights were so exhausting, they hurt too. Especially if he pillows have buttons on them.
I collapsed onto the bed and scooped up my limp pillow. I noticed it was slightly flatter then before, it probably lost most of it's feathers.
I still felt happier then I had every felt. A night with Claire, pillow fight, and a long time ahead that we'll be together. The only downside was Nico and Marry were coming. Don't get me wrong, I love Marry like a sister, but I wish I could be alone with Claire.
It felt like I just closed my eyes when Conner woke me up with a lovely bucket of ice water on my head. I let out a surprised yell and sat up. He snorted, then burst out laughing. Travis was clutching his stomach and howling with laughter. I brushed my soggy bangs out of my head and rung out my shirt, scowling.
