"Claire," Sky murmured, blue eyes glowing. "So glad you could make it."
I stumbled back, pressing myself against the door. I closed my eyes and shook my head.
"No," I whispered. "You're not real. Those were just dreams." I felt a hand cup my chin and tip my head up. Sky chuckled.
"No, my lovely hero." he said. "Those were all real." My mouth fell open. "Every kiss, every touch." I felt heat rushing to my face. He smirked.
"Figments of my imagination need to stay figments of my imagination." I said, staring directly into Sky's pure blue eyes. Just like in my dreams, no pupil. He just chuckled.
Sky dipped his head down and planted a kiss on my throat. I stiffened and squeezed my eyes closed, feeling helpless. Then I remembered, this isn't a dream. I placed both of my hands on his chest and push him back. He smirked against my neck, then proceeded to kiss up my neck.
"No," I whispered, he was too strong. "Please, no." I felt him tense slightly.
"What happened?" he whispered, sounding so heart broken. "You used to come to me with open arms, no you've pulled away. Is it the boy?" His kisses on my jaw and throat became angrier and quicker. I felt my heart pick up the pace, this can't be happening. Sky pulled away and stared down at me, his hands on either side of my head, pinning me to the wall. "Answer me."
"Yes," I said through gritted teeth. "I don't love you, not even a little bit." A sly smile appeared on his face.
"But that," he leaned down, his lips brushing my ear. "My dear hero, is where you're wrong." I shivered, I was horrified that there was a small part of me that was actually enjoying this. "If you didn't love me, why did you continue to dream of me?" He dragged his nose down my neck to my collar bone and started to kiss down there. "You called, I answered."
"No," I whimpered, trying to push him away again. "Stop, please." Sky caressed my cheek, staring at my face with longing. I swallowed, I had to be strong.
"You used to crave my touch," he murmured, brushing some hair out of my eyes. "Now this boy has turned your head." I felt genuine fear for Nico just then, seeing the anger and loathing in Sky's pure blue eyes. "We shall do this later," he smirked at me. "You must me hungry."
He grabbed my hand and brought me over to the table. The food looked as inviting and fresh as before. I sat down stiffly in the chair, knowing I'd never be able to make a run for it. He took his glass and raised it in a toast. I looked down at my lap.
"Eat." he commanded. I picked up my fork and scooped up a bite of mashed potatoes, but something made me pause. Something ticked the back of my brain, like something important was trying to wiggle it's way free and make it's way to the front of my attention.
And water will wash away the forbidden meal.
I froze. The prophecy, the forbidden meal. I looked down at the seemingly innocent food, still looking as mouthwatering as possible. Almost like it was too good...
I bit my lip. I wanted to flip the table and run, but I'd never make it. I knew I could not eat this food, so I pretended to. I pushed it around, making it look like I'd taken bites. I raised the fork to my lips, but put it back down when Sky looked away. Sky smirked at me, confirming what I thought. This food was bad news.
I glared right at him, my patience all gone. "What do you want from me?" I demanded, cutting right to the chase. He raised an eyebrow.
"What do I want?" he asked, I froze when he walked over and leaned down to whisper in my ear. "I want you, Claire." I shuddered. He pulled away and grabbed my hand. "I also want to make sure you know that deep inside, there is a part of you that loves me." He pulled me towards his throne and sat down. Then, he suddenly looked at the door. He cursed in Greek. "I should have hidden it better..." he muttered.
My eyebrows knit together and I looked at the door as well. The door was suddenly thrown open and someone burst through, panting and sweating. They turned and slammed the door closed. They were covered in pink burns and a few scratch marks. They were wearing an oddly familiar torn skull shirt...
"Nico!" I cried and ran over to him. He turned just to be engulfed in a tight hug. He was taken back for a second, but then he wrapped his arms around me and held me close. "I'm so glad you're safe!"
He pulled away with a smile, then his gaze traveled over to the table, then Sky. He pulled out his sword, glaring at Sky. He glared back just as fiercely.
"Who's this?" Nico asked, never taking his eyes off of Sky.
"You mean," Sky asked, mock surprise in his voice. "You never told him about me?" Sky fixed his blue eyes on me. "About us?" I flinched, clutching Nico's arm tightly.
"What does he mean?" Nico turned his head to look at me, his body still facing Sky. "What's he talking about?" I felt my knees trembling.
"N-Nico, I can explain-" I started.
"She can explain alright," Sky said, stepping closer towards us. "She can explain that since the beginning of her quest, she's been seeing me in her dreams. Every night, she's come to me." Nico turned into stone, I felt his arm tense by me.
"Claire," he said in a dangerously calm voice. "Is this true?" My throat was impossibly dry and my tongue felt like sandpaper.
Sky snapped his fingers and chains suddenly sprung up from the ground and wrapped around Nico's arms and torso, pinning them down and sending his sword spinning away from him. I leapt back in shock. The chains tugged him down so Nico was kneeling.
Another chain appeared around my wrist and dragged me towards Sky, I tried to dig my heels into the ground and stop, but it was all in vain. I whimpered when Sky grabbed my chain and it connected to the arm of his throne.
"Stay away from her!" Nico yelled, struggling against his chains. "Leave her alone!" Sky ignored Nico's yells and picked me up like a small child, setting me down in his throne. The chain shortened so I was stuck in the throne, another one wrapped around my waist.
Sky started to walk towards Nico. I struggled against my binds, but nothing happened. Sky leaned down so him and Nico were eye to eye. He grabbed Nico's chin and turned his head back and forth, examining his face.
"So this is the infamous Nico di Angelo? Ghost King, son of Hades." Sky dropped Nico's face. "Pathetic." I saw the fire burning in Nico's eyes and the shadows seemed to get darker. Sky rolled his eyes. "So scary." he mocked. "I'm truly terrified."
"You said it's me you want!" I suddenly shouted out. "Leave Nico alone, if it really is just me you want." Sky turned and smirked at him.
"It's true," he admitted. "But I'd like to make the boy that stole you from me suffer. I want to watch the light fade from his eyes." My breath hitched at his words. He was going to kill Nico, he couldn't kill Nico. "Now the true fun begins."
