Nola was not impressed when Sarah got home.

"You and Bubs got sick." She said curtly, crossing her arms and openly glaring at her best friend. Sarah rolled her eyes and slowly lowered herself on to Nola's gorgeously comfortable bed.

"You. And. Bubs. Got. Sick." Nola repeated, letting anger engulf her words as she looked at her dumbass best friend.

"We were okay." Sarah tried to remind her.

"You went to hospital, in Spain." Sarah shrugged even as the memory still made her uneasy.

"You didn't tell me." Nola whined. "I had to find out from Owen."

"I didn't want you to worry."

"Of course I'm going to worry!" Nola shouted this time. In that moment Sarah knew this was serious now. She froze and looked up into Nola's eyes, surprised not to see glowing red coals.

"You're my sister and that's my godchild. This is big Sarah. This is big, and scary and I wasn't there and I want you to be okay, okay." Sarah nodded and Nola swooped down to encase her in a hug.

"By the way," Nola whispered into Sarah's ear, "Owen was terrified. It was adorable. You two are 100% married."

Ruby was lying with Owen on his bed when his phone rang. She closed her eyes so that she didn't accidentally glare when he pulled away to answer it. She was going to be better this time. She wouldn't be jealous and she wouldn't do anything to put their relationship in jeopardy.

"Are you okay?" Calls from Sarah ways put him on edge, and for good reason.

"Caramel popcorn." She murmured and a grin spread across his face.

"It is ten at night." He stated, Ruby didn't miss his tone, she swallowed that jealousy she was so afraid of.

"I know, that's why I called you..." Sarah trailed off, remembering that Ruby was going to be round and internally smacked herself. "Don't even worry about it."

"Okay, I won't." Owen replied. Ruby raised an eyebrow as he hung up and started to laugh.

"What is it?" She asked nervously.

"Come on." He beckoned, taking her hand, "I'll drive you home." That had not been Ruby's expectation but it was sweet she guessed.

They spend the drive in silence. It was comfortable, but Ruby still wanted to say something. She wanted to tell him it was okay, he could talk about Sarah if he wanted to, she wouldn't go running off shouting: 'witch, someone burn her at the stake!'

She and Sarah had come to a kind of understanding, even if Sarah wasn't aware, as long as Ruby was first priority, there was no issue.

She was blissfully happy when Owen stopped at the gas station and bought her a chocolate bar. When he dropped her home he kissed her passionately I a. Way that made her head spin and her body ache.

He drove off once he knew she was inside.

Sarah wasn't expecting tapping on her window. She presumed it must have been the little apple tree moving in the wind and thought no more of it. It continued and, already restless, it made her feel like looking out at the little garden.

She almost screamed when she pulled back the curtain and saw Owen standing there. He smirked as she clutched her mouth and chest and toon a minute to return to breathing normally.

She pushed up the window and stared at him.

"What the hell are you doing here? It's almost midnight!" She hissed in a whisper. She liked the way the moonlight brought out the edge of his jaw.
