Today was Tuesday. Normally I'd be looking forward to the weekend, no school, no dickheads, just me and the Internet. But this time, the weekend is looming and I am not excited at all. I can't believe I actually agreed to go to Summer in the City, I suppose it'll be alright but it's not my idea of fun.
I was sat and the bar in the kitchen attempting to eat a bowl of cereal. Marcus was sat diagonally across from me on his phone, although he was trying to be subtle I can see that he was watching me. After a dozen of mouthfuls, which is way more than I thought I'd be able to do, I pushed it away.
"You done?" Marcus asks.
"Yep," I nod.
"Found out anything about Rosie yet?" he asks, dumping the remains of my cereal in the bin and washing the bowl up.
"No," I frown, "she said she has a girlfriend called Ruby and those names sound familiar but I can't thing where from."
"Well I looked through her tweets and she quite often tweeted a girl called 'AllTimeRuby' if that holds any relevance." he tells me.
"Where have I heard that before?" I mutter, "it definitely helps thanks."
"That's okay, we better get going now," he announces, drying his hands, "I put a sandwich in your bag if you want it, you don't have to."
"Thanks," I nod, putting my bag on my shoulder."
When we get to the school and I get out more people than usual look over. I try and hear what some girls nearby are saying but they're whispering too quietly.
"See you later Rose," Marcus calls.
"Yeah," I nod closing the door and waving slightly, "cya."
I scan the crowds of people until my eyes land on a black car with two people lent against it. One of them is the girl I met yesterday at the vinyl shop- I assure the other is her stepbrother. As I get nearer to them I hear a snippet of their conversation.
"What about her?" the boy says.
"Who?" Linda - I think - asks, looking around.
"The girl walking towards us."
They both look directly at me and Linda smiles and laughs.
"No this is Rose, the girl I was met yesterday," she tells her brother, "she has a boyfriend."
"No I don't," I say when I reach them.
"Oh, well are you gay?" The boy asks.
"Nick!" Linda gasps.
"Lindsey!" He imitates, guess I was wrong.
"Er, no," I laugh nervously.
"We're just trying to see what girls Linds might like," Nick grins.
"Even though I have a type," Lindsey says, shooting a glare at Nick.
"Yeah I know, I know," he sighs, "purple hair, musical, preferably a bassist, hyper, funny, cuddly, blah blah blah."
"I don't know about cuddly but I have a friend who's like that," I tell them, "I don't know if she's into girls though."
"Ohmygod please you have to find out!" She shouts.
"Um ok," I say, I'm not used to being 'matchmaker' or whatever.
"Anyway," Nick presses, "hey I'm Nicholas Hoult and hate being called Nick."
"Which is why I do it," Lindsey grins.
"Bitch dick," Nicholas mutters.
"I'm Rose Butler," I reply.
