~Chapter 20~

Ashtons P.O.V

After Lexi left I couldn't help but feel like a piece of my life came back she didn't remember me but she does now I smile at the thought of our childhood and the new little friend I have Lila such a sweet girl how did she get involved with someone like me I regret everything I said that hurt her I regret what I've done to people but only to the innocent

the guilty deserved what they got I go no emotion when Abigal walks in smiling like she just won something I raise an eyebrow at her "hope you don't miss her to much she's either dead or bleeding out as we speak or on the verge of being shot one of the three you understand right Ashton?"

I glare down at the short white haired girl "what did you do" I grit my teeth she better not have done what I think she did she doesn't answer for a moment "what did you do!!" She flinched and frowns  "I did what you wouldn't I had  someone shoot the little girl and her mother the only people that can cause you weakness must be destroyed a gang leader has no weakness so I got rid of yours" she smirks

I pull out my gun and point it at the girl "that was very stupid don't you know a weakness can also make you stronger so that you can protect what makes you weak" I laugh and walk circles around her dragging my gun along her body I make a tsk sound and sigh "Oh how stupid you are little one" I place my gun to the back of her head and pull the trigger she falls to the ground dead blood pooling around her

Some of the other members come running into the room their eyes go wide when they see Abigal dead on the floor "who did she tell to shot Lexi and Lila speak now!" They flinch "she told Hunter to do it he was more than happy to" one of the guys speaks up "where is he!" They begin to back up slowly to put some space between us "he's on his way there now"  I growl and head for the door when I get in my car I speed down the roads to get to the place she's staying "come on...come on"

Asher's P.O.V

I'm startled awake by the sound of two gun shots I jump out of bed and grab my gun I walk through the house as quietly as possible I sneak into the girls room and see the guy standing there his shoulders shaking as he laughs I raise my gun and fire he drops to the floor good no blood I can get rid of him later he rolls on his back gasping for air I look down at him and growl it was Hunter he draws his last breath and closes his eyes he's dead

I look up at the bed blood is everywhere I yell at Xavier to call 911 and within a few minutes they're here taking the girls away on stretchers they started working on them in the ambulances I was driving with Xavier to the hospital Aaron stayed behind to clean up my mess we got him out of there before the ambulance got there I also hid my gun but now Aaron was taking care of the rest

I feel like my heart was just ripped from my chest and I don't know why I can't hear him but I know Xavier is crying beside me after we get to the hospital they take them both into surgery to remove the bullets and try to save them Xavier and I sit patiently or atleast we tried  about four hours later the doctor came out to speak with us

He told us Lexi would be fine but Lila might not make it the bullet barely missed her heart which was actually really good news because if it had hit her heart she would have died right there but because it was so close to her heart she lost alot of blood and there's alot of damage he said we could go see Lexi when we were ready we nodded and went into her room She was out cold I smile and shake my head she's the only one I know that could sleep through getting shot

We sat there for a few hours before she woke up she looked around then frowned we looked at each other then at her "what?" We ask in unison she simply looked at us and said "ouch" we smiled and started laughing she smiled at us "where am I? what happened? Where's Lila?" We stopped laughing and frowned "you're in the hospital you got shot and so did Lila she is in ICU they won't let us see her yet"

Lexi frowned I could see tears form in her eyes as realization hit her hard she realized she might lose her daughter "Wh-where was she shot" her voice is shaking like she's going to break down any moment I take in a deep breath "she was shot in the chest it barely missed her heart" i feel a pain in my chest as I watch tears stream down her face the doctor walks into the room to check on Lexi and tell us more about Lila he says she's awake and wants to see Lexi she nods and tries to get up but the doctor pushes her back down "you can't move yet Miss" she sighs then looks to me "can you go check on her for me please"

I nod and walk out of the room Xavier stayed behind to keep her company while I went to see Lila I follow the doctor down a few different halls then into an elevator then down more halls I hold my breath as I enter the room I see her awake sitting up she was talking to someone and smiling I walked up to them she smiles at me "hi Asher!" the person turns around my eyes widen "Ashton?" I raise an eyebrow "what are you doing here!! you sent that guy to kill them how dare you show up what were you going to finish the job that he didn't!" Lila's eyes widen "you tried to kill me and mommy?"

He frowns and shakes his head "no I didn't send him to do anything is was Abigal remember her had a crush on you until you left?" I grimace as a shiver of disgust runs down my spine "yes I remember her...but what does she have to do with anything?" He sighs and motions to the door so we can talk out in the hall I walk out the door into the hall followed by Ashton "she saw Lexi and Lila as my weakness so she sent him to destroy my weakness but.." I cut him off "sometimes your weaknesses make you stronger" he nods

After talking for a few more minutes we walk back into the room "Lila I didn't send anyone to hurt either of you" Lila looks to me and I nod telling her he's telling the truth she smiles and opens her arms "can I have a hug please" Ashton and I look at each other "which one?" She smiles "both of you silly" we look at each other again then shrug and go to hug her "I'm okay it doesn't hurt" we pull away and smile but our smiles turn into frowns as she starts to turn pale then passes out and falls back onto the bed I run to get the doctor Ashton screams at me to hurry because her heart beat is growing weaker and weaker

The doctor rushes into the room just as her heart stops he begins to do what doctors do when people die CPR and the electric thing you know when they say CLEAR nurses push Ashton and I out the thing sounds throughout the hospital saying CODE BLUE after a few minutes the doctor and nurses come back out "we got her heart going again but she won't last long I'll get Miss. Smalley so she can say her final goodbyes I suggest you guys do the same" The doctor walks away to go get Lexi with a sad look on his face we both walk in Ashton walks over to her bed, reaches down to hold her hand he sits down in a chair and lays his head gently on the small hand he's holding

I do the same but keep my head up and watch as her chest rises and falls the doctor brings Lexi in and wheels her up to the bed she's in a wheel chair they don't want her walking yet which is understandable Lexi is crying I move so she can hold Lila's hand and say her goodbyes tears form in my eyes as Lexi speaks to the child "goodbye baby I love you it's okay go into the light little angel it was a pleasure to be your mother" Lexi lays her head on the child's bed I hear more sobs and look over to Ashton to see him crying gang leaders never cry so this is a first he mumbles some stuff about how he didn't know her long but already felt so attached to her like she was his own

I put my hand on Lexis back and rub comforting circles on her back this only makes her cry more I sigh as tears stream down my face I didn't know Lila very well but she was an angel no doubt about that she turned the heartless gang leader into my brother again and for that I thank her "goodbye little angel" Ashton mumbles then kisses her forehead he leans back and lays his head on her bed just like Lexi I hold my breath as I see and hear her heart beat on the machine start to strengthen then...

Haha another cliff hanger sorry guys but hey what's a good story with out cliff hangers right? Right okay anyway here's the next chapter this book is coming to an end keep in mind this is my first book so it's not going to be extremely long I can promise though there will be and ending to remember ;)
