part 14 // eva

i unfold the note that i found on the slide to see something written...

"the first time i laid my eyes on you, you SLID into my heart<3"

omg that was so cheesy. but cute at the same time

i look at the bottom right corner and it's says to flip the note over. on the back it says to go to the monkey bars to collect my next note. i grab it and open to see another cheesy pun...

"i wanna HANG with you until we grow grey and old<3"

i gotta admit, this is pretty cute. i'm so blessed.
like the last note, it says to flip it over. on the back of the note, it tell me to walk to small cliff at the edge of the park. i'm guessing he's there to meet me. hopefully we'll get to watch the beautiful sunset tonight.

i make my way to the cliff and fright before i get there, i see a note and i pick it up. i open it up and it's says.....

"be careful and don't fall off this cliff, just like i FELL in love with you.<3"

gosh i love him so much. he knows just how to make me feel so loved and special. i'm honestly not sure if anyone else is capable of doing that like he does. i flip the note over and it says to continue on and sit on the edge of the cliff where there is a picnic laid out.

once the picnic blanket is finally in my sight, i notice gray isn't there. i walk to it and sit down, doing what the note told me to do.

the next thing i know, i feel two hands wrap tightly yet gently around my waist. i feel butterflies in my stomach like usual. he starts flooding my neck with light kisses and whispers in my ear....

"hi beautiful"

i turn around and stand on my tip-toes to give him a big hug, nestling my head in the crook of his neck.

"hi" i reply with a tiny smile.

he helps me down onto the the picnic blanket and he then sits down next to me.

we eat girl scout cookies and gummy bears until we feel as though we can't eat anything more. the edge of the cliff is slightly slanted so there's a perfect view of the sunset. there is a rock platform directly below the edge, so i know i'm safe.

he lays down and i follow him, resting my head on his chest. as we watch the gorgeous sun setting before us, i can feel the ups and downs of his chest breathing. it soothes me. he soothes me.

i look up at him and give him a small peck on the cheek.

"i love you"

he looks back at me and says....

"i love you too eva. i'm so happy i'm spending my last sunset with you"

wait, what did he just say.
"last sunset"
what is that supposed to mean?

"gray, what do you mean by last sunset?"

he stares into my eyes.
i stare into his.
we get lost in each other's presence.

"eva......"

his voice shakes and i can hear the nerves in the tone of his voice

"yes gray?"

"eva, i'm sick...."

"what do you mean?"

"i um..."

i can tell something is seriously wrong.

"gray, it's ok. you can tell me."

he takes two long deep breaths then finally speaks....

"eva.... i have...... cancer."
