i set her down after our holding her up for a whole and intertwined our fingers.
everything was perfect.
it's all i've ever wanted.
she loves me.
i love her.
i couldn't ask for anything better.i pick her up bridal style and carry her over to the corner where she dropped her crutches. i bent down and picked them up for her and helped her regain her standing position.
we walked back to the room to grab her stuff and then to the main entrance to get cleared.
she had to sign a few forms for her release and she had to contact her mother and stuff but other than that it went by pretty quick.
once we made it out to the parking lot, i helped her into the car and then walked over to my side. i got buckled and drove off. i'm so glad we won't have to come back to this place for a while now....
the car was overfilling with silence but it wasn't an awkward type, it was comfortable. we didn't have to say anything, it was fine being silent for once. it's not even that we didn't have anything to say, we were both just too happy for words.
*SKIP CAR RIDE*
i sat her stuff down by the doorway and helped her wobble to the living room couch.
i hated seeing her in so much pain....
i would trade places with her in a heartbeat.i realized she was struggling so i picked her up again and gently placed her on the couch. i set up some pillows and ice packs for her ankle and knee so that she could be more comfortable, since she was probably going to have to be in that position for a while.
she smiled up at me as a thank you and then turned over on her side. she is probably exhausted from everything that has happened. she's been through a lot so far.
she is so strong and admire her for that.i wait at the house for about an hour longer and wait for her to fall asleep. i write out a note to her mom so that she knows how eva got here and try to explain the situation as best as i can. i leave it on the counter and walk into the living room.
i grab my phone and keys and head outside. on my way out, i can't help but smile from the memories from earlier, replaying in my mind over and over.
i never wanna forget them.
i've never been more excited to see what's to come in life, all because i'm finally with her, and i couldn't be happier.as i'm about to reach my car door, my phone starts to vibrate in my pocket. i pull it out and read the number... "UNKNOWN"
that's strange.i pick up and hear a woman's voice.
"hi there. is this grayson dolan?"
"um...yes. yes it is"
"ok great. i'm sandra wallock from the NCIRC and i'm calling you today regarding your check-up at the doctor about two months ago."
"oh ok....."
"i was hoping you could come stop by sometime tomorrow to express some concerns we have."
"yeah sure."
"thanks!"
"oh yeah no problem. wait, quick question..."
"yes?"
"sorry to ask, but what does the NCIRC actually stand for?"
"it stands for the National Cancer Institute Research Center."
to be continued.....
