CHAPTER 26 : Adam's POV

"Hello, buddy. Tik...tok...tik...tok. The time is running Adam."

When I heard those words from Paul, I knew exactly what he's talking about.

"I know. I just need more time. Okay? Things just getting better." I lied.

I know to myself that I can't do what he wants me to do. Instead of making a trap for Katherine, I'm the one falling in it. So nothing is really getting better, in fact, it's getting worse.

"Adam I'm telling you, I'm not a patient man. No result from your plan, means... you know what a happy ending I'm about to say." he said sarcastically

"I know. I know what I'm gonna do."

"I wanna hear your plan again."

"No need Paul. I know what I'm doing. Okay? Why are you so eager to have the ruin George?"

"Because that's how I'll ruin that man. I know him so well, I know that he'll be in so much pain when I ruined his company and if his daughter will be hurt. He've done so much to me. Anyway, do not change the topic, young man. What's the new development with your mission?"

"Nothing new. Like-

"Nah-ah-ah. Don't fool me! Remember, I have my eyes and ears, even my nose around you.!

"I've already agreed with marrying her."

"Really? Good. And then?"

"When she's falling so deeply, that's when... w-when I'll break... her heart." Just thinking about it tears me apart.

He laughed loudly on the other line, "Good! It's like music to my ears. Well, while you're working on that, my other men are working to ruin George's company. Obviously, it's effective. And when everything is done, all of this is done, viola! he's dead in so much depression," he paused to laugh "that's it for now, gotta go. Bye!"

And then I ended the call. I need to go back now to where Katherine is. I know, I'm taking too long, she might go here in find me.

In my surprise, when I opened the door, she was there. She looks like angry and shocked at the same time, she's also trying to contol her tears.

"B-baby?! Why a-are you... here? Did you he-

She slapped me hard, "Yes! I heard it! How could you?" the tears started rolling on her cheeks.

"L-let me explain. Baby-

She slapped me again and this time she walked out. All I can do was to look at her, going away until she is out of my sight.

I was so stupid because I wasn't careful, or maybe I should say, I should have not played with her feelings.

Yes, I do like her but, what can I do? I'm stuck in a situation where I have to choose. I don't wanna hurt her that's why I didn't tell her about my "secret". But what happened now, she was still hurt.

I don't know how to face her. I don't know if I should follow her and explain to her everything or maybe I just have to let her be alone.

"Adam! What did you do to my bestfriend?" Louise confronted me. Anger was written all over her face and I can't blame her for that. I, myself feels the same.

"Louise, I don't mean-

"Oh come on Adam! She'd never been like that! Whatever you did, how could you make her cry? Just a minute ago, you two were so sweet but now, now what? You made her cry! You're impossible!" And with that she walked out.

I can't even defend my self 'cause I know she's right. I don't know, why I have to be the reason of her tears.

But for now, I need to be away. Not to hide from her, but this time, to fix stuff and make it up to her. And I'll go back to her, to be the right guy for her, to be worthy of her.
