Ciel's POV

I rushed to check if Sebastian was right, and much to my horror, he was. My immediate reaction was complete and utter unadulterated panic.
My heart sped up (do demons have heart beats? If I'm wrong say so and I'll fix it) and I froze in my place. How could I not of noticed?! This was a complete blow to my dignity, not mention I, as much as I loathed as I am to admit it, had grown rather fond of Alois over the time I'd spent as his butler.
My mind was flooded with thoughts and questions. 'Where could he have gone?', 'is he all right?' and 'what should I do?'. I forced my breathing to slow and my head to clear. Being panicked would only lead to me acting foolishly and irrationally.
There was a note left on the doormat, so I picked up and read it.

That **** Trancy is being kept somewhere hidden and will probably be there by the time your reading this if you want that ****** alive then you're going to have to pay for it we would like at least £2000 for him.

The handwriting was sloppy and half-hearted, likely not done by someone who wrote much, and was littered with spelling mistakes, and there was literally no punctuation. It was likely the person who wrote it was of lower class, probably barely knowing how to write.
I was not giving them the money, but I needed Alois back in one piece. I rubbed my temples, struggling to keep myself from doing anything I'd regret. I felt like there was a rock lodged in my throat.
Sebastian took the letter from my hand, scanning over it, whilst I stood in shock trying desperately to keep myself calm. Then I heard it.
It was strange, almost as if the voice that I heard was inside my head, but it was real. Definitely real.
"Ciel!" A voice that was almost certainly Alois' yelled. Fear was evident in the tone and it pained me to hear it, it felt like someone was trying squeeze the blood out my heart like juice out a lemon.
Sebastian didn't seem to respond, so I assumed only I could hear it. "Which way did he go?" Sebastian asked. 'Like I'd know,' I thought, but found myself pointing in a certain direction.
It was weird, but it all felt natural, and I somehow knew I was right. And then I began to wonder how I'd get there... Demons could run at least five times as fast as humans, but as pathetic as it sounds, I still had asthma, so I couldn't really run far at all.
I looked over at Sebastian hopelessly. "We can figure out how to get there after you're armed," he stated. I was assuming he was probably carrying his "silverware" per usual anyway...
I decided to take a sword since that was what I was most familiar with, and Sebastian seemed to have made his mind as to how I was going to get from here to where Alois was.
"I'm not being carried. I'm not five and I'm not hurt," I snapped, my face heating up slightly at the extremely undignified idea.
"I'm assuming you have a better plan then?" Sebastian remarked. I internally groaned, letting myself get hoisted into the air by Sebastian... I was trying to rescue somebody, but I had to be carried there... The embarrassment is likely beyond what you can comprehend...

A/N: The end of the chapter was a bit meh... Anyway, Ciel isn't taking a gun as the force of it going off would probably send him flying, given his weight, and whilst Black Butler doesn't care about physics at all, I'm deciding to show that hated science just a little bit of respect. Also, the remark about the letter at the start of the chapter is just because during the Victorian era unless you had a fair amount of money you were not getting an education, that's all.
Hope you enjoyed, and until next time my fellow nerds and otakus, (well, if you're here your more likely to be an otaku) serpent author out!🐉
