No one's POV

The Trancy manor was quiet, deathly quiet, it had been for some time. It was the sort of silence that seemed to consume you, swallow you, and drown you quick sand.
Alois Trancy stared at the ceiling, betrayal, anger and loneliness tugging at his insides. He had been alone for over a month now. So horribly, terribly alone. The lack of human contact had worn away at his hope, his resilience, his energy, everything that kept him going. The blonde earl sighed and turned over in bed, there was no use getting up.
Just then he heard a nock at the door. Did he not make it clear he wasn't accepting visitors?! And he felt so drained... None the less Alois forced himself out of bed, his limbs feeling like lead and his apathetic thoughts weighing him down as if a ball and chain latched to his ankle. Not bothering to pull actual clothes on, he answered the door, and there stood the last person he expected. Smooth, perfect ivory skin, neat, soft, silky blue hair and the one visible piercing sapphire eye. Ciel Phantomhive.
"Earl Phantomhive?!" Alois exclaimed, trying to stop the heat from rising to his cheeks due to the fact Ciel was fully clothed and he, you will be fascinated to know, was in nothing more impressive nor decent than a night shirt...
"I'm here to offer you a deal, though I feel you may like to get into more adequate attire and freshen up first," Ciel responded curtly, his words dripping with polite disapproval, making Alois retreat slightly, his cheeks turning even pinker. Despite this, they were words from another's mouth, a break from his utter solitude, contact from another, whatever the nature of it. Alois felt his heart quicken with happiness and nervousness, for now he needed to reply, could he even still talk after so long?
"I-I shall, s-sorry. I-if you'll excuse me for a minute... A-and I do apologise, I would offer you refreshments but I'm currently in need of staff..." Alois stuttered out, staring at the floor, he had lost a lot of his confidence and self-worth since Claude and the others left. I had been so long since he'd spoken to someone, it was almost as if he had forgotten how. Ciel nodded curtly, his one visible eye trained on Alois as he entered, and even as the broken child scarpered up the stairs to get dressed.

When Alois got into his room he resisted the urge to scream into his pillow because Ciel bloody Phantomhive had turned up to his manor and he had answered the door to Ceil bloody Phantomhive in his damned nightshirt! It was so embarrassing! And what was Ciel even doing at Alois' manor?! The blonde instead took a deep breath, exhaled, and instead got dressed, brushed his hair etc etc.

Alois walked into the lobby as quickly as possible, feeling bad about making Ciel wait. He probably still looked a mess but there was little he could do about the dark circles under his eyes, or his inability to look awake, nor his current frailness, or even his constantly jangled nerves.
Alois offered to make Ciel tea though the young past earl shook his head, declining, likely wanting to get straight to business, or didn't believe Alois to be able to make tea decently, which was only half true. None the less Alois sat across from Ciel tensely, his shoulders brought up slightly, his legs stuck together and his back anxiously straight.
"As I said, Earl Trancy, I am here to make you a deal. Now I'm sure your aware of my current, status, shall we say, as a demon, and since you have been left staff-less I will offer my assistance and help you fulfil one wish in return for your soul, I'm sure you know the procedure given this is your second time. I cannot guarantee I will be quite as good as your previous staff but I believed you would appreciate the offer anyway," he stated, keeping his voice smooth, unwavering and clear, as if he'd practiced the entire thing several times over.
The offer took Alois off-guard, he was aware of Ciel being a demon, but Ciel Phantomhive offering to be someone's butler, his butler of all people! Alois would have thought the whole thing was one big joke had he not known Ciel well enough to be aware of the fact that he wasn't the joking type. Ciel was entirely serious. The blonde tensed further, and found himself wringing his hands and glancing towards the door.
"I-I... W-would it be possible for me to have some time to think?" Alois asked, annoyed at how pathetic and weak his voice sounded compared to Ciel's. Not to mention persistent anxiety. Or indeed his disorganised attire that really needed straightening out, that and he had the building sensation that he'd forgotten to button one of his shirt cuffs.
Ciel nodded, "that would indeed be possible, how does tomorrow afternoon at two sound?" He offered in a professional, clean, confident manner, quite the opposite of Alois.
"Th-that would be perfect, th-thank you for the offer. I-I shall see you then," Alois replied, fidgeting under Ciel's stern gaze. The bluenette nodded, checked his pocket watch before standing, and Alois took that as a hint for him to stand, so did so.
"I shall see you tomorrow at two, sharp. Have an enjoyable day, Earl Trancy," Ciel said woodenly, and Alois nodded.
"Y-you too, E-Earl Phantomhive," Alois replied anxiously. He watched longingly as Ciel departed, dearly wishing he could of stayed. Ciel didn't make for the best company, but it was company, which Alois was otherwise without. None the less the earl sighed, and decided to try and do something that day instead of going back to bed. But first he needed to do up that shirt cuff...
